where is the origin of Sherwani

Sherwani came from the British? Are you joking?
What is this nonsense?
"The Sherwani appeared during the period of British India in 18th century, as a fusion of the Shalwar Kameez with the British frock coat."
The origin of the Sherwani is in the Turko-Persian "Kaftan" (خفتان) which predates British rule in India by over a thousand years. Please cite some sources or remove this limerick. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.136.104.21 (talk) 19:22, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Your quite misinformed as well it seems. It originated in India and thats plan fact you're just going to have to deal with.
