Not part of Ryukyu Islands[edit]
Comparing the original 1911 article (e.g. [1]) with the modified Wikipedia version, it appears that a Wikipedian added incorrect speculation that it is now part of Ryukyu Islands. However, from the original content it can be derived that "Satsuma Islands" referred to what is known today as Koshikijima Islands, which is not part of Ryukyu Islands.
By the way, low Google search count ([2]) also shows that usage of the term "Satsuma Islands" is now extinct.
