The diamond is real, but I can't say precisely where it is on the statue. At night, you can see it sparkle like a star, but you have to stand in a very specific spot; move about a meter away and you can't see it. This would be at the southwest corner of the piazza, across the street from a sort of covered courtyard, to the right of the church entrance. You can see it from the curb, standing about a couple meters east of the corner. I wish I could put it into the article, but some spoilsport would probably call it "original research".
