Balata is a creek in French Guiana and also a neighbourhood in Cayenne. Balaté is an arawak indian village in St Laurent.

Removed from page, because I think it's wrong[edit]

L'arche de Noé ("Noah's Ark"), a small zoo not far from town.

There are L'arche de Noé in France, but I can't find anything. I found https://www.refuge-arche.org/qui-sommes-nous/un-refuge/ which sounds like it as well, but once again no address listed on their site. KittenKlub (talk) 12:28, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding pictures more representative of the diversity of the city[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to warn that I have the intention to Change some pictures in this article that are more representative of the diversity of the city. If someone are opposed to this changes in any way, we can discuss about it here ! PouLagwiyann (talk) 13:05, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you mean you want to revert my edit of the infobox and put back the pictures that were there before my edit, then I don't agree with it for various reasons. First of all your pictures are large, take a lot of space (4 pictures in total at the top of the infobox, 2 of them very large), and make the infobox clunky. I purposefully selected smaller pictures, and only 3 of them (vs 4), so as not to make the infobox super large. This is after all an encyclopedia article, not a postcard or a tourist brochure. Also, your pictures don't really show urban settings of Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni: one (picture 4) shows the Voltaire Falls, which are located in the Amazonian Rainforest more than 50 km (30 miles) to the south of Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. Picture 1 and 2 show monuments isolated from their urban context. As for picture 3 (subprefecture), I have kept it, but it appears larger and more visible in my edit since I put only 3 pictures in the infobox instead of 4. Aside from the subprefecture (which is the same picture you used), the pictures I selected show St Laurent's main church and St Laurent's city hall in their urban context (showing streets and passerby), instead of isolated monument vignettes which don't give a sense of how Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni looks as a city. I'm therefore not in favor of reverting to your choice of 4 pictures for the infobox. ព្រះមហាក្សត្ររាជ (talk) 22:26, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
