Refurbishing old leather bindings[edit]
"I have tried neatsfoot oil, saddle soap, mink oil, silicon liquid, neutral shoe cream and polish, and various colored shoe creams and other water repellent substances and leather conditioners. The ONLY one that I can safely recommend is a very soft saddle soap that I purchase here near Detroit ( I do not know if it is sold nationally), but any soft saddle soap should do. I have used saddle soap for 2 years and have volumes I treated back then that have been safely preserved and look very good.
