Ship name changes[edit]

For the purpose of this article I used SS Aleutian as the vessel’s most noteworthy name despite her having spent the majority of her career as the SS Panama. Aleutian is the name used for her wreck as recognized by the US National Register of Historic Places. Unfortunately, she is most noted for the circumstances of her demise rather than for her service career.

In searching for images of the ship, I’ve seen mages of her as a single funnel and as a two funnel vessel, which makes me suspect that a ship may have been misidentified in various places. In this period it appears that it was not uncommon for a shipping company to replace an older vessel and transfer its name to the new ship. That was certainly the case with the Ward Line. After selling the 1898 Havana they ordered a new ship – also from Cramp – and gave the 1906 vessel the name Havana.Mariepr (talk) 02:56, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing[edit]

I see that following the notification from CorenSearchBot, an effort was made to rewrite the content duplicated from [1] and [2]. That effort is appreciated, but the article's content still appears to be too similar to those sources, both in structure and in wording. I have tagged it as such since this may still cause copyright problems. Please see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing and when you can, please attempt to rewrite the sections in question in your own words.
