NXT[edit]

If any NXT wrestlers are announced in advance that they will be in either the men's or women's Rumble matches, then the show should be listed as a tri-branded event.

Vjmlhds (talk) 15:41, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Highly unlikely that NXT will be apart of the Royal Rumble this year. WWE are keeping NXT away from the main roster due to COVID-19, that's why they weren't part of Survivor Series. This year's Rumble will in all likelihood just feature RAW & Smackdown. Also, NXT never announce their entries, as they are treated similar to surprise entrants. But again, I doubt NXT will be in it this year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.25.151.30 (talk) 05:04, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Have yet to see that posted officially by WWE. And why do people keep uploading these images to Commons? Commons is largely for free, public domain content, not non-free content. --JDC808 19:16, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Did some looking around and found this article about the poster, and a very similar poster is being sold on the WWE Shop. --JDC808 20:54, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Featuring a "fan viewing experience"?[edit]

What does that mean? What does it add? Wasn't the Royal Rumble always a fan viewing experience? It sounds like adspeak, pure and simple, like calling active talent Superstars and alumni Legends, or the fans the Universe. You wouldn't call a Pepsi a "cooling taste experience", you'd call it a Pepsi. We should call the ThunderDome the ThunderDome, and just let the Wikilink put its features over. Not leadworthy, especially compared to the two legit main attractions that virtually all fans look to experience, the staggered battle royales. Why not push those on the audience? Hell, this event will feature the first post-Patterson one, isn't that a comparatively objective and interesting fact? InedibleHulk (talk) 23:46, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's pretty simple, it's how the show is presented due to the fact that there are no live fans actually in attendance. Re:Wasn't the Royal Rumble always a fan viewing experience? Yes, as are all wrestling events, but this one has the unique take of having virtual fans as opposed to a live crowd due to the pandemic, which is lead worthy (and yes, it is a "viewing experience" for those actually partaking in the ThunderDome). The event having two Rumble matches is standard now and was going to be addressed in the lead once the event was said and done (as has been done for the past three years' events). This being the first post-Patterson Rumble is an interesting fact, and something that I'm not opposed to including, but it's not something that's really been said by anyone (in fact, you're the first person that I've seen even address it). --JDC808 00:41, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And you're the first person I've ever seen remove two featured matches for being standard features since 2018. Even one is in every similar lead since '88. Are you trying to say "featured" means "new" or something? If so, you reverting my mention of it being the first is even less sensical. I think you'll revert anything I add, so I'm done. But I'm not wrong. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:58, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Mentioning there will be two Royal Rumble matches in the way that you did sounds like it's the first time or it's something that doesn't happen often. Like I said, it's standard now and to be expected, and also like I said, it will be addressed. It seems like you haven't been keeping up with these articles these past few years. --JDC808 01:14, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I only wrote they'd be featured "as well". Nothing about first or unusual, that's on you if you read it. And no, I got fed up with wrestling event articles back when explaining how good guys and bad guys work became mandatory, repetitive and lengthy. Screw COVID for making "normal" even worse! But nothing personal, you new crew do some fine work in other ways, cheers. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:12, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's not unique. They have been using this set-up for every pay-per-view event as well as every Raw and Smackdown episode for the last five months now. I noticed the section has been copied-pasted between every article on the recent pay-per-view events, explaining the full details and chronology of the concept, as it were the first time they used it, on each such article. I think that is excessive.Tvx1 01:53, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it is unique given the circumstance. Yes, it has been used for the events for the past few months, but it's documentation that this may be (and hopefully) the only Rumble held in the ThunderDome. As to the section, not to say that it couldn't be trimmed, but it's background info regarding the pandemic and its effect on the event (remember, not every reader is going to be reading every WWE PPV event article and they may not care enough to read the whole ThunderDome article). The "copy-paste" of this section is really no different than the copy-paste intro paragraph for the Storylines section. --JDC808 11:24, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But the impact section only deals with the general impact of the pandemic on the WWE. It mostly focusses on the events that led to the creation of the ThunderDome. There is no information on more specific pandemic-related events that happened in relationship to this specific event, like for instance Drew McIntyre being infected with the virus. Those are the things I would expect to read on this article, instead of having to read the copy-pasted identical explanation on why they invented the ThunderDome for the umpteenth time. I mean that concept was not created out for this event in particular.Tvx1 22:17, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, because it has affected the promotion as a whole, and in turn, why their events are being held in the ThunderDome (as well as the specific location of the ThunderDome). You might be reading it for the umpteenth time, but like I said before, you have to remember that not every reader is going to be reading every one of these articles. Extra info on the specific event itself is also included if there is anything to include (for example, with this Royal Rumble, WWE wanted to host it somewhere where they could have fans, but the pandemic prevented that, and that is included). Drew McIntyre testing positive could be added. I personally didn't think to add it because I didn't think it was going to actually affect the event, and was also waiting for further updates. That's not to say that you or someone else couldn't have added it, and it could actually still be added as a small mention. --JDC808 01:07, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Peyton Royce should be credited with an elimination of Liv Morgan. Table shows Liv was eliminated by Royce, but Royce is not credited in the corresponding column. 2600:8803:7C04:E000:AC3A:EF8E:BB00:24C4 (talk) 02:21, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reginald eliminated Carmella[edit]

Carmella was eliminated when Reginald dropped her - Tamina gets no credit for scaring him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:806:4200:42C0:B53F:928C:FA56:6D89 (talk) 02:23, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Christian's elimination[edit]

Christian is grabbing Braun's legs, then Seth dumps both of them; it shouldn't be listed as an elimination for Braun, but rather for Seth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charuas (talkcontribs) 05:04, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kane listed as SD on WWE.com[edit]

Please stop changing Kane from SD to free agent.

Yes, he's busy these days as mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, but he's still listed by WWE.com as a SmackDown wrestler, which is what we use here for brand classification.

Thank you.

Vjmlhds (talk) 13:57, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

He went undrafted in the past two drafts (wasn't even included as being eligible to be drafted). WWE.com is just being slow to update his profile so it doesn't have a brand. --JDC808 17:54, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree with JDC. Kane was undrafted in the past and was included in the last one. Even if WWE includes him as SD wrestler, is more like WWE just didn't updated his profile. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 21:50, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Seth Rollins' should have 4 Eliminations[edit]

It should be 4.

Daniel Bryan and Riddle are obvious.

Commentary stated that Rollins eliminated BOTH Christian and Strowman by throwing them out. RaikouSuicune (talk) 01:51, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding to the ending of the women’s Royal Rumble[edit]

I was replaying the ending to the women’s royal rumble when Rhea Ripley and Blanca Belair where on the apron dangling there legs I slowed it down and it saw in my eyes that both Belairs feet hit the floor first so Rhea is the REAL Winner here NOT Belair — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.241.182.44 (talk) 00:32, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's what we call a botch. When I saw it live, it looked like they just barely skimmed the floor. Regardless, official winner is Bianca Belair. --JDC808 07:06, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stop changing it[edit]

Could you please stop changing Kane from a free agent to the Hall of Fame. He wasn’t inducted yet. Kurisumasen (talk) 16:59, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Back in 2021, I did this. When I got blocked, it got reverted back to free agent from Free Agent/HOFer. I’m just gonna keep it at that. Thatoneguylol101 (talk) 20:33, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edge is on RAW?[edit]

He is not exactly… (an unbranded wrestler since then)Kurisumasen (talk) 23:55, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kane[edit]

I think the note about Kane being in the HOF later on should be removed. I’m not gonna change it anymore because… I’m obviously wrong. Thatoneguylol101 (talk) 09:05, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
