Maven Elimination[edit]

In both the main article and the entrance/elimination table, it says that The Undertaker eliminated Maven by throwing him over the top rope after he had already been eliminated. But wasn't this the one where Maven was never actually eliminated from the rumble, he was just in no fit state to continute after his beating by Taker? 90.206.120.194 (talk) 02:27, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. Corrected, thanks muchly. Papacha (talk) 03:34, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I thought that no matter how you go over the top, you're eliminated, making the "can't continue" point moot. I think we should delete that footnote. Then again, it would help if there was ever rule consistency with this match from year to year. 75.99.101.86 (talk) 15:18, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Upon reviewing the video, after his elimination, Undertaker first throws Maven from the ring between the top and middle ropes, but then rolls him back into the ring and OFFICIALLY eliminates him by throwing him over the top rope, with both feet touching the floor. Anytime an entrant leaves the ring in the latter fashion, whether by force of another legal entrant, an illegal entrant, or of the wrestler's own purposeful/accidental volition, that wrestler is officially "eliminated." Thus, the footnote that he was "beaten until he could not continue" is irrelevant. (The notable exceptions to this rule are one-time aberrations, like Vader's rampage in '96, and the times that the wrestlers accidentally eliminated themselves (as a shoot, not kayfabe) and needed to be resinserted into the match as they still had a major part to play (Randy Savage, '92; Batista/Cena botch from '05, etc.). Therefore, I'm changing the footnote to reflect this. It does depend on the situation, storylines... As per storyline, in 1996, after Vader went on his rampage, throwing Shawn Michaels, Bob Holly and Triple H over the top to the floor, President Gorilla Monsoon himself reinstated those wrestlers into the match, since he had the authority to do it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.204.209.116 (talk) 03:05, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The video shown by WWE only shows Taker throwing Maven over the second but under the third:

Royal Rumble 2002: Maven pulls off a shocking upset by. 17 February 2012. Event occurs at 2 minutes 40 seconds. Maven went through the ropes, not over the ropes, let's point that out. ~ I don't think Maven's going to want to continue on in this rumble anyway when the Undertaker's through with him.

The announcer affirming this and the visible non-elimination of Maven by this initial intercession by Taker has led to a lot of people including him in the 'never eliminated' elites. What was said Jan 29 about the DailyMotion video is correct but if we have to Template:Cite AV media it would be preferable to use a video officially and legally distributed with WWE authorization. I do not think we could link to it. A citation is still needed which we can format properly. Has WWE ever officially released the extended clip? Mentioning that it happens after Scotty 2 Hotty came down the ramp and Taker assaulted Scotty would help establish the timeline a bit better. Ideally if WWE added the full clip on YouTube we could do a specific minute/second link. 184.145.18.50 (talk) 14:40, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chuckling a bit at the fact that 14 years later this is still an issue... Considering that the full event is available on the WWE Network, can that be used as a source? I know that it's a subscription service so not everyone has access to it, but it's similar to how people have used published articles on EBSCOhost and paid newspaper archives as sources in other Wiki articles, right? Just a thought. Andresg770 (talk) 19:10, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Faarooq was #24 to enter not Kevin Nash![edit]

He was eliminated by HHH just like it says in 36 seconds, just not Kevin Nash. Here's proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVnkYHYw6z4 @53:25 The Hurricane comes in and gets put out then Faarooq comes in and gets put out by HHH, not Nash. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.52.254.241 (talk) 05:17, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
