Firsts[edit]

I've corrected the U.S. centrism of the intro. Given this U.S. centric tone, I don't have any confidence that the claims made are global rather than U.S. only, as Americans often don't even think to consider what might have been done in the rest of the world. The first American woman to pilot a tactical jet aircraft?[edit]

The opening paragraph says "She was the first American woman to pilot a tactical jet aircraft..." Given that Jacqueline Cochran became the first woman to "break the sound barrier" in an F-86 in 1953, this isn't really correct. Can anyone clarify that statement? Shawn D. The opening paragraph originally said (and should say) female military aviator. Also, these appear to be global firsts, according to the references. Mhjohns (talk) 20:41, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It necessarily cannot be a global first, given Jacqueline Cochran's accomplishment. Even if Jacqueline Cochran hadn't been before her, she still would not be the first -- Hanna Reitsch piloted the Me 262. Shawn D. (talk) 13:30, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

17 Carrier Landings[edit]

Having only 17 Carrier Landings seems odd, is this right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.139.152.185 (talk) 19:43, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
