Problematic sentence[edit]

I’ve moved this here for improvement:

The creation of the quite artificial region of Emilia-Romagna raised the criticism of the Romaniards, including that of Carlo Cattaneo.

Multiple problems here:

  1. Unsourced
  2. ‘quite artificial region’, while not untrue, is hardly a model of neutral encyclopedic writing; also we need to say when and how that region was created: did Emilia-Romagna exist as an entity before 1970?
  3. Cattaneo was a Milanese

Map of Romagna in Relation to the rest of Italy[edit]

Why is there a map of just Romagna? Romagna could be anywhere on earth for all we know with this picture up. We should try and get a picture that has Romagna in relation to the rest of Italy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.227.247.231 (talk) 16:22, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Map of Romagna, showing its administrative divisions (new territories not shown)
I come here more than a year and a half later to make the same complaint, although I also want to point out that the only map currently in the article is useless even within its limited scope. I'm copying it here. Not only does it not help at all in understanding where Romagna is, but it gives no information at all about the admittedly pretty colors that are splattered over its surface, except that each color is presumably a different administrative division. The only new fact I learned about Romagna from studying this map is that its largest administrative division is yellow.--Jim10701 (talk) 00:03, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Jim is right, of course. Map is colorful but not helpful. Need to know where it is in respect to the rest of Italy. Probably better off replacing with a pushpin map! Student7 (talk) 23:22, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is still an issue of importance that remains unresolved 4 years later in 2018... Are there any artists or aspiring cartographers? Right now all we have is the Emilia-Romagna for geographical context... Regards Stevenmitchell (talk) 06:45, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with neutrality[edit]

This article lacks neutrality in its analysis of various contentious areas (e.g. the reasons for the dettachment of seven comuni from the Marche region in order to join the Emilia-Romagna region).

Fixed. Replaced with the observation that Romagnolo dialect is spoken in the newly-joined comuni, that's fairly neutral. Brutal Deluxe (talk) 23:47, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notable people section[edit]

I did a WP:BOLD and removed the notable people section. The list seems inappropriate for a large geographic region, when people are already listed in articles discussing lower-tier administrative units. Happy to pursue consensus if editors disagree. Possible new sections[edit]

A list of sections that I think should be added to the article:

  • Riviera romagnola (to be wikilinked; here is the separate article in Italian), discussing the proliferation of the tourist economy along Romagna's coast, and also the summer colonies that contributed to its growth.
  • Arts and culture, discussing Romagna in and its contribution to arts/culture/literature, from Dante to Fellini via Pascoli.
  • Cuisine, which can take inspiration from Rimini#Cuisine and Emilia Romagna#Cuisine and gastronomy.
  • Sports, including Grand Prix/MotoGP.

I'm working on articles relating to the Province of Rimini, but this is on my watchlist/back-burner. IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 17:03, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
