Rob Zombie (band) Page![edit]

He has stated that he considers himself part of a band now. I want to push for all contributors to make a page specifically for the Rob Zombie (band). There is too much information missing on his normal page and too much useless information on his page as well. Make a BAND page! --Harris —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.111.215.133 (talk) 13:25, 20 May 2010 (UTC) or include the band page in this article, but yes, there needs to be a band reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.188.116.46 (talk) 17:57, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Place of Birth[edit]

I thought he was born in Haverhill, MA. This article claims Hobbs, NM. Does anyone know the correct city?--24.147.7.253 (talk) 11:28, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gold certification?[edit]

On the RZ discography page it says Educated Horses is certified gold. Is there a link for this?

4th Studio Album[edit]

It's been mentioned in several magazines (Fangoria, Revolver) that Rob and co. may return to the studios to record an album for a 2008 release. Keep posted on this; I can't remember which damn issue it was that I saw that article in! URFG 15:35, 25 May 2007 (UTC)URFG[reply]

nope. not gunna happen. maybe you're thinking of the White Zombie Boxed set that rob is compiling? i'd love to see this happen as rob's music without the input of a talented guitarist, bassist and drummer is mediocre at best, but i highly doubt this will happen anytime soon.69.212.158.85 (talk) 12:49, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He has confirmed he has been working on a new album, as has Piggy D. He has also confirmed it will be released in 2009. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.42.142.92 (talk) 14:40, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

genre[edit]

Wouldn't his music entitled "Rob Zombie" as in Hellbilly Delux and The Sinister Urge be considered Nu-metal partially? I mean I can rarly hear guitar solos and there are many electronic sounds. Even on the nu-metal page he's there.

Not nessicarily because nu-metal contains hip-hop beats and/or rapping. Rob doesn't do any of that, though he does have lost of electronic beats. Bands more like Korn or Slipknot are nu-metal. URFG 14:32, 11 April 2007 (UTC)URFG[reply]

Along with the genre chat, what is it with him being listed in Groove Metal. When Groove Metal is mentioned all I can think of is stuff such as Superjoint Ritual and lest we not forget Pantera. Comparing to these Rob Zombie is way off what "Groove Metal" really is. I personally don't think he should be listed under the genre. Tazz 02:48, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Johnny Ramone relative?[edit]

no, Rob Zombie isn't related to Johnny Ramone. That would be cool though.

How do you know they're not related? I've often wondered that myself, since they have the same last name and were really close. Their ages match up in a way such that Johnny could be Rob's father, and Rob was very close to Johnny, being with him at his death. I think that this requires further research beyond "no, it isn't so." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseph.pentangelo (talkcontribs) 19:47, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of upcoming live CD[edit]

Why was this page deleted? All of the information can be found on Rob's official website.

Al Jourgensen[edit]

Should something be included in this article about Rob "borrowing" some of his style and look from Jourgensen? Has Rob ever commented on this in interviews? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.43.208.76 (talk) 10:47, 9 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Any cited sources or is this just your opinion?--CyberGhostface 17:16, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
i dunno rob's look between la sexorcisto and the end of (white) zombie was quite similar to that of jourgensen throughout his career.68.255.174.173 17:35, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

there is no similarity retards

References[edit]

I was looking through the list that goes into detail which of his songs borrow lines from films and all that other esoteric fanwankery and noticed that a lot of them don't seem very valid, especially not in the tone that they are written in. Some are fairly made, given that it takes a pair of working ears to connect a line from a film to that of one of his songs but other times it seems like whoever came up with that section was fishing in a dry well of knowledge that seems to make a threadbare connection to things in question. Bottom line to all of this, I believe it could use some trimming. 4.224.249.38 14:10, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Matheson reference?[edit]

I'm reading Richard Matheson's "Now You See It..." and at the end of chapter 1 the last two sentences say, "A chronicle of greed and cruelty, horror and rapacity, sadism and murder. Love, American style." Those same words (Love, American style) are in the White Zombie song "More Human than Human" (near the end) which is based on the movie "Blade Runner". Just thought it might be more than coincidence since two of Rob Zombie's songs (Creature of the Wheel and I am Legend) are about Matheson's novel "I am Legend". - Frank

Interesting point. I always thought that the WZ lyric related to Love, American Style (a late-1960s/early-1970s television show), though. Hmm. --Myles Long 23:22, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew McRory is Dead[edit]

If McRory is dead, how can Zombie be planning to put him in a sequel?

What are you talking about? Before he died, he appeared in the Devil's Rejects (a sequel to 100 Corpses). This is the last movie; Zombie said he's not doing anymore sequels. --CyberGhostface 18:45, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Something that could be added to his page[edit]

Zombie's page mentions that he and his brother were heavily into the B-movies and classic monsters and stuff like that, which inspired Rob's music, but it doesn't say that the reason they were so interested in those things was because their parents were carnies, and they went with their parents around the carnival circuit.

I can site this information from Metal Heroes Magazine. I was just wondering about it, if it seems like relevant information to you guys, and if someone had the time, maybe they could stick that in there.

I wouldn't know really how to word it to make it flow with the rest of the page.

--24.92.36.157 07:41, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

if you can source it, add it. let other people worry about editing it so that it will "flow with the rest of the page". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.43.208.76 (talk) 10:44, 9 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I'm surprised there's been no mention of his illustrations on this page. --acidedge76 14:59, 28 August 2007

Rob Dirt Straker?[edit]

Why is he credited as such on Soul-Crusher?

Rob Staker was his stage name in the early White Zombie days. ~~Tallman

Where is his discography?[edit]

I don't see a section clearly indicated to be his solo discography. -Iopq 02:27, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2 Articles?[edit]

Wouldn't it be better if there were two articles - Rob Zombie (person) and Rob Zombie (band) rather than just the one? Other artists that share their name with their band include Marilyn Manson, and there is a page for both himself and the group.

Probably not, because unlike Manson or Van Halen, isn't Rob considered a solo artist? That's a tough one, because he has full sized pics of his band members in his lyric books, possibly implying "Rob Zombie" is a band, but I think it is still considered Rob Zombie's solo work from all I've heard.

Rob Zombie is considered to be a solo artist, the band he was in was White Zombie but since that is no more, Rob Zombie has continued his music career as Rob Zombie, he just get people to play from him on tour (atleast thats the impression i got)

The red shirts[edit]

The article currently metions Rob Zombie was the lead singer of the "Capella group, The red shirts", but I can't find any reference to that band anywhere. Can anyone verify that? -Carlif 20:12, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it until someone else verifies it.--CyberGhostface 23:19, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Two Voices[edit]

I think there should be some mention of Rob's two different vocal styles, notably his high nasally voice as in the verses for Spookshow Baby and his low growly voice as in the chourus for Dragula. He sounds like two completely different people, yet both are easily recognizable to the average rock fan as Rob Zombie. That takes a lot of talent imo, as most rock singers cant even get famous enough so that people recognize ONE of their voices, yet Rob has done it with two. The only other singer I can think of where this is the case is Axl Rose with his high schreechy voice and lower "aye-aye-aye-aye" voice.

Personally i think that Rob Zombie isnt a rock singer at all, i think he is American Metal and to be honest with you the first time i had heard of Rob Zombie is when Piggy D started playing Bass for him.

You should keep in mind that almost all musicians, especially in the metal genre where you have to abuse your voice to the extreme, "edit" their voices in the studio so that in the end the album-voice sounds appropriate and I'm sure that Rob's true voice is at its best mediocre (ever heard him live?), so I think that his 2 voices come from the studio's computer or something like that. -1stLtLombardi 19:43, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

Section removed per WP:TRIV. The contents were unverified as well. Anything that can be verified should be worked into the article.--Isotope23 01:50, 18 January 2007 (UTC) as a metal producer I must point out that the most talented of metal/rock singer use very little effects or editing to their voices. In addition, simply using different voices doesn't really make one all that special and therefore should not be worthy of mention here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.31.23.32 (talk) 05:26, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Halloween[edit]

Information regarding the production and upcoming release (Aug. 31) of his Halloween remake should be included on his page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.149.156.230 (talk) 21:10, 4 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Did that yesterday, it's in the main article now. :) By the way, does anyone know when El Superbeasto is going to be released? OR Sin-Gin Smyth? Seems like both of those movies are taking FOREVER to come out! URFG 19:05, 10 April 2007 (UTC)URFG[reply]

A very incomplete article[edit]

This article is about Rob Zombie the person, yet the band he was in for thirteen years has only a passing mention at the top of the article. It goes straight from te table of contents to Rob Zombie, completely ignoring everythig from his birth up until he released Hellbilly Deluxe. I'm not saying we should scramble to get his life story, but we should at least add a part for White Zombie. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.239.66.119 (talk) 19:29, 8 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Obviously. Prior to this the entire article was a copyvio, so we're having to start completely from scratch. Rome wasn't built in a day.--CyberGhostface 20:22, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Keep in mind, this is a page for Rob Zombie, not White Zombie. And yes, it DID suck that his page was deleted. But now, I've partially restored it by adding info in my own words, and other editors are helping out. Quake 2[edit]

Hey all, Rob Zombie did a lot of the awesome Quake 2 soundtrack, its pretty well known and theres info and a link to RZ from the Quake 2 wiki. Why is there nothing about this on his site? He also did a very very strange instrumental version of More Human Than Human called Jingle Bells or something, it was on a crash driving game. RZ also did some of the soundtrack on Medievil playstation game!

Vandalism[edit]

Industrial metal source[edit]

Sure, we can do it here :)

Basically, real.com isn't, as far as I know, an accepted source. However, it shouldn't be hard to find a good one terming Rob Zombie industrial metal. Prophaniti (talk) 09:35, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to express my appreciation for you coming to the talk page, as I get down on myself for using edit summaries as discussion. I will be happy to look for other sources. Added another source. Please look it over. Law shoot! 09:46, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can't see any reason why about.com review wouldn't do. I use the cite as a source myself. It's not the best, but it has editorial staff rather than accepting user submissions, so it meets the criteria for reviews, and as far as I'm concerned that's fine for this too. Cheers.
As a side-note, it's nice to meet an editor who's actually willing to discuss and be sensible. Prophaniti (talk) 09:50, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
LOL. I know it's not the best, but they do have employed editors so it's a shade above IMDB. I am glad we have developed a repoire; perhaps we can work again on another article. Cheers. Law shoot! 09:52, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

discography with White Zombie[edit]

Should we add the discography when Rob was in White Zombie?--F-22 Raptor IV 19:12, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was HIS band to begin with, all lyrics by him as well most of the musical arrangements. Pretty sure the producers had more input on the music than the actual members. Rob's always been a control freak, haha.--Razdower (talk) 20:30, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comics?[edit]

Rob Zombie has been puting out the comic Rob Zombie's Spookshow international for a few years now and I don't see any mention of it on the page. I have the first ten issues. Why is there no mention of this on here?

I also noticed there is no article on the subject of the comics either, but there is an article for Strangeland: Seven Sins and that has only seen one issue to date, with no real confirmed info regarding when the rest is coming out.

I'm going to start putting together the information for this, if anyone has anything they would like to add, you're welcome too of course.Leviathanlover (talk) 07:02, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there's a deliberate reason--editors just haven't gotten around to it. For the record, though, Rob cancelled Spookshow international a long time ago so he could work on The Devil's Rejects.
If you make an article for Rob's comics you should also add that he co-wrote The Nail and Bigfoot with Steve Niles.--CyberGhostface (talk) 19:10, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

?[edit]

Just what is this supposed to mean? (Found in the section discussing his work on the Halloween remake). " However, due to the fact that he only remade the film it is not considered by most to be a real project." SylvioGreene (talk) 20:37, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It should be changed so it states that his legal name is Robert Zombie. I remember watching Jimmy Kimmel (or other late night show, i cant remember exactly which one it was) a few years ago where rob pulled out his driver's lisence and it read Robert Zombie, to which the host asked about it and rob confirmed that not long ago he had legally changed his last name. Orphaned references in Rob Zombie[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Rob Zombie's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 01:46, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I found an older version from before the error was introduced and I cut and paste that into the current article. It should work now. GnomeSweetGnome (talk) 23:22, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That looks so much better. Thanks! I don't know where and when it got messed up, but i had noticed it a while ago, and forgot to mention it.UtahCountryBoy (talk) 15:30, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rename page[edit]

This article should be called Rob Zombie (or Robert "Rob" Zombie, idk), shouldn't it? He has legally changed his name, so now he isn't "known professionally as Rob Zombie" but is "known before (or named at birth) as Robert Bartleh Cummings".
