Article[edit]

This article is terrible. This guy is hugely controversial and generally considered borderline insane by everyone in tennis. There have been a number of high profile incidents worthy of mention. I agree with the first paragraph. I read this article a few yrs. ago and it seems to have been given a whitewash since then. This article is a Cultural Health disgrace to wikipedia and tennis[edit]

Hetep and Respect folks I just read this article 9/11/2011 after the First Lady Michelle Obama of the United states of America meets the first lady (#1)of tennis Mr. William's daughter Serena at the US Open in my home town. Serena just won her simi-final match, headed to the finals as the favorite to win her fourth US Open Championship and 14th Grand Slam title and this disgrace of an article is what I find on arguably one of greatest coaches in the history of tennis. Wow!

It should be a top priority for the Wikipedia Tennis Project to fix this disgrace ASAP. Most of what is in this article should be at the end of a proper article under the heading controversial at best.

Mr. Richards created the greatest Cinderella store in the history of tennis. He and his wife created on of the great American rags to riches stories by developing, not one but two world class tennis players that have been great American ambassadors all over the world. The Williams sisters are the biggest name in Tennis and one of the best known names in the history of sports. When Serena plays on TV she gets the biggest ratings of any tennis player on the tour including all the top men.

From the first grand slam forward, Venus and Serena have been the number one and two rated (buy points or by reality) since I have been watching them. Everyone knows if they are in the draw and healthy one of them is likely to win the tournament. They lead in every category of tennis from the best serves and power to the best/most controversial fashion.

Not a word about Mr. William's visionary determination to create two #1 tennis daughters before they were born or the techniques he adapted like the windshield wiper stroke and city street play to develop their skills outside of the tennis establishment, an unheard of and unimaginable task by any standard.

Serena has been called and is on track to be the best player in the history of tennis. She already has the undisputed best woman's serve in the history of the game, except maybe for her sister who can actually server harder. And this is the article and picture that is on Wikipedia for one of the visionary innovative coachs, that against all the odds made all this possible? This is a disgrace, a bad joke we wikipedians we can do better.

The article fails to meet NPOV wikipedia standards, it does not even reach tabloid standards. The article should be thrown out and completely rewritten. It is worthless as it stands.

Remarried?[edit]

Is it true that he was divorced from Oracene in 2002? And that he remarried again Dec. 29, 2010, after a 2-year engagement, to a grocery store owner (Lakeisha Graham) who is 37 years younger than he is? And, if true, can we find a reliable source so the article can be updated? (Why is this article on a major, interesting coach and father in the tennis world so inadequate?) Number of children[edit]

Williams is biological father of five children from first marriage, two (Venus and Serena) from second marriage and one from third marriage. There is an acknowledged ninth, Chavoita LeSaneL, born 1973, which is same year Williams and his first wife got divorced. There are runors of other biological children, but no number nor names verified. His first wife had a child before she married Williams and his second wife had three daughters before she married Williams (hence five daughters in the movie). I really don't get it. Do the Wiki editors not know how to count? The article asserts at the top that Williams has five children. Then it goes on to enumerate the number of kids he had with three wives which comes to a total of eight kids. Why does the article state he's got five kids, then count 8???
