Not a bad article, but putting it on hold pending a couple of things:

The lead doesn't adequate summarise the article - it's almost entirely about the Lieutenant-Governor dispute, and overlooks his previous career
The article really needs a more logical breakdown than by decade; as it is it looks very segmented
I think the section on his appointment as Lieutenant-Governor could be expanded further - for something that's received massive amounts of press, one paragraph is a bit light. Rebecca (talk) 11:14, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here's some further comments:

The lead could be beefed up a little bit I think. Might just be opinion though.
"His family had begun building in Manhattan in the late nineteenth century," You just jump into this. Start with a sentence beforehand saying that the father/parents/whoever worked in construction or whatever word fits best.
Anything on a high school he attended? If not no big deal.
"He served in the army for a short time after graduation." Any more information on that? When did he join/leave and why? Also, after graduation from college or law school?
"His focus was low- and middle-income housing projects, and some notable developments he was responsible for were Waterside Plaza, Riverbend, and Manhattan Plaza, all in Manhattan. Some of the projects he worked on were built under the Mitchell-Lama Housing Program. He also built the first integrated housing projects in Washington, D.C., with James H. Scheuer." All this should be cited.
"After receiving death threats and having armed intrusions at his office, Ravitch began wearing a bulletproof vest at some public events, and security was provided for his family." Was this due to the transit strike fallout? It's a very interesting fact, but I'm curious as to why he had to.
Anything major that he did in his Millenial Housing Commission role?
Anything he did between 04-08?
'On August 20, the Appellate Division's Second Dept. ruled unanimously that "the Governor’s purported appointment of Mr. Ravitch...' No second quote mark, so I don't know where it ends.
