Title[edit]

Is this the best title for this article? It seems very long. Could 'internally displaced persons' be abbreviated to IDP's in the title? AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 00:25, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Numbers??[edit]

How can you claim that there were 250.000 refugees from Armenia, when in 1979 there where 160.000 azeris in Armenia??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrArmJack (talkcontribs) 21:10, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Refugees and internally displaced persons in AzerbaijanRefugees in Azerbaijan – First, as noted above (ping User:AdventurousSquirrel), this title is longer than we would usually expect. Second, This is the only such titled article I found in Category:Refugees by country of resettlement. Third, internally displaced person is often called a refugee, through yes, legally there is ia difference. We usually discuss them in dedicated refugees in articles anyway. There is no reason for Azerbaijan article to stress it is different when in fact it is similar to most other Refugees in Foo articles. • Support - in this and all the other 4-5 articles Piotrus has caught. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:48, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - Clarifying the distinction between the two might definitely warrant a brief explanation in the prose, but as for the title, I think WP:COMMONNAME applies as they are commonly lumped together under the umbrella term "refugee". • Support - Standardizes the title. The current title probably results from the propagandish origin of the article (numbers must be talked up, but if the IDP's are not thought of as being refugees there is a risk of exclusion of the IDP material so the title has to be worded to guarantee their inclusion). If IDP's are mentioned as being refugees in other similar articles, this overly wordy title can go. Maybe someone can address the other issues within the article, such as its datedness, and the blatant faults in some of its figures (like text and a graph saying that the Azeri population of Armenia was 160,000 in 1979 and text stating that there are 250,000 Azeri refugees from Armenia between 1988-1991. Where did the extra 90,000 come from? Almost a 60% population increase in less than 10 years or just inflated figures for propaganda effect?
