This article would be improved if information were included as to whether it was legal to employ 14 year olds in this way at this point in time. Grandma Roses (talk) 02:13, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a source, but I believe it was, yes. 93.97.184.230 (talk) 07:17, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not quite sure what's prompting the requests to delete this all of a sudden. He seems notable, and I don't beleive G7 applies since some usere have made contributions, in my case I spent some time tracking down sources. Sourcing could still be improved, but other primary sources (which aren't ideal I know) including his Merchant Navy service record should become more easily accessible in the near future, see http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/business/popular_records.htm which should reduce the reliance on forums etc for details of his early life. It's just the nominating editor trying to make a point, since he didn't get his way over some non-notable things he was determined to ram into the article. Kinda sad, really. MikeWazowski (talk) 04:43, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was tempted, at first glance, to remove the above little jibe at me by MikeWazowski. On reflection, however, I realised it provided an example of how this editor has yet to master the basics of Wikipedia:Civility. As to the original question posed by David Underdown, that has been answered elsewhere.-- Myosotis Scorpioides 11:07, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, this coming from the guy who's been warned by an admin about civility - your edit summary back to him really proves his point... MikeWazowski (talk) 14:19, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to continue making digs at me, may I suggest your talk page as the suitable place. Personal comments have no place on an article talk page.-- Myosotis Scorpioides 15:38, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You know, that's hysterical... it's okay for you to make a personal dig, but not me? Pardon me while I guffaw... MikeWazowski (talk) 16:09, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
