Some of this is not correct. His guns didn't jam; he knew he had run out of ammunition. Also to say he decided to 'ram' the bomber sounds odd, as if he was going to simply fly into it willy nilly. In fact he decided to try to cut the tail, or part of the tail off with his wing; which he succeeded in doing. see him interviewed here [1]

oh and the attack wasn't head on. he followed the Dornier across London. Khasab (talk) 18:47, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Apparent RAF account is different in a number of ways[edit]

I found the accounts below. Not necessarily 'official' RAF but certainly through the RAF and the account is different in a number of ways, particularly about all aspects of the German crew's story. What do people think?

Holmes' ramming attempt is a disputed myth by historians. So I have added the accounts of Alfred Price and Stephen Bungay which note the Dornier was empty of its crew when Holmes rammed it, as well as his combat report which only mentions a "jar" with no mention of an intended collison.79.68.150.165 (talk) 08:08, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
