new WP editor here, could use edits feedback[edit]

Hi there - I'm looking at the replacement I made to exchange the OpenLibrary entry of The Raven's Tail book (Cheryl Samuels) for the GBooks version (I saw a WP article saying that using Google Books is not preferred when a free, noncommercial source is available.) However, the OpenLibrary entry doesn't include the ISBN or all the other details that can be helpful in locating the source more generally. When I'm better rested and I have a better chance to learn more of the syntax tricks of various templates on WMF project sites, if someone else hasn't already corrected it or told me how to do it, I'll come back and make further improvements. Like I mentioned in my edit, while I'm not necessarily biased, I am not wholly neutral. This is a topic that interests me and I've read a few books about it and I also joined the Ravenstail Weaver's Guild for a year to check things out and learn a little more about the style of weaving. (I'm more of a spinner and fiber processor than I am a weaver, but the ethnography and archaeology of the art form and the way it has been revived in modern days by both indigenous and non-indigenous Cascadian peoples catches my interest.

I welcome feedback on what I can do better in the future should anyone have the time and energy to do me the honor of sharing ways that my edits could fit better with the culture and traditions of WMF projects and WP in particular. Thank you for reading this! --Grayautumnday (talk) 03:39, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Grayautumnday: - Hello, welcome here! Thank you for your contributions. If you are trying to switch an existing citation from Google Books to Open Library, you don’t need to change the entire citation (the easy way would be to change the URL and the field "via"). Also also not all Google Books links are "paid", many have a preview or free option (therefore we don't need to replace every citation using Google Books). When adding a citations, there is a required page number, and other details - so others can review it. If the citation doesn't match the writing in the article, typically the edits are immediately removed (in precaution of original research). Because you are new and I know the learning curve is high, I will give you some time to make the correction before removing it.
In terms of being a member of the Ravenstail Weaver's Guild, as long as you are not in a position of conflict of interest with this article, it should be okay. I will leave a note on your talk page about conflict of interest, with links to review. If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out, or visit the WP:tea. - PigeonChickenFish (talk) 04:01, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Most everything in the article has reliable citation already. So if you are seeing something that is questionable, normally we start a discussion on the talk with a new supporting citation (and after you look up the existing citation). PigeonChickenFish (talk) 04:13, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
