What is radical Islamism?[edit]

The article contains a very strange opening statement.

Radical Islamism in Azerbaijan is the rise of religious extremism across the country

I thought radical Islamism was a certain trend among religious people, and not the rise of fall of something. Grandmaster 15:56, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is a trend, and it is raising, it's why this article is so important. Gazifikator (talk) 04:17, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, are the "ardent believers" the same as the radical islamists? I think per neutrality we need to delete them from this article and add to Islam in Azerbaijan as they are also peaceful traditionalists among them. Gazifikator (talk) 07:26, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Of course there are. This estimates is needed to demonstrate the proportion of practicing Muslims in relation to secular people. It shows that the radical Islam cannot gain much prominence, as it needs to win over 93% of population, plus those among the religious people who are adherents of traditional Islam. Overall, the number of radical Islamists must be far less than 1%. So please do not delete sourced info from the article. Grandmaster 07:50, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is possible that Radical Islamists are much more lesser than ardent believers. But we need a source on this statistics to put here. The weight is showed at the "Current situation". But let us not to do OR. Prominent radicalist groups may have 200 or 1000 members and supporters, as the many of the leftist brigades and islamists have. It is normal. Gazifikator (talk) 07:52, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Radical Islamists are practicing Muslims, therefore they are a part of this 7%. Even if we assume that all 7% of religious people are radicals (which of course is not true), it still a very insignificant proportion. This figure is relevant to demonstrate that radical Islamism cannot be a serious concern in Azerbaijan. Grandmaster 11:54, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Practicing Muslim goes every day to Mosque, reads Qoran several times during the day, never drinks alcohol. Radical Islamist thinks that everyone must became "right" Muslims, fights for it, he dislike peaceful Moscque communities and Mollas, the government and supporters of other religions, receives support from international web of extremists, accepts terrorism and tries to participate. Is there a difference, or not? Gazifikator (talk) 13:59, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Without the survery (which is provided with a source) the intro of this article is very misleading. Baku87 (talk) 13:00, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The survey is on practicing Muslims not on Radical Islamists and terrorists. Gazifikator (talk) 13:09, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gazifikator, please, do not remove references from the article. And what's your definition of radicalism? If you can't evaluate it in encyclopedic terms, and you surely can not, then the title of the article violates WP:WEASEL. There are over dozen far more reliable references calling ARF Dashnaktsutiun radical party, but it's not encyclopedic as it cannot be evaluated. Atabəy (talk) 06:09, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, you're using double standards as I see at the article's editsum [1]. Your edit seems to be reverted because of being POV-pushing. If in this case it is WP:WEASEL, notice for deletion. You can do it here WP:AfD. Gazifikator (talk) 06:16, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
