Uses of RAF Welford[edit]

In the 1940s, the station held German prisoners of war. In recent years, the heavy munitions have (I believe) been extremely heavy, nuclear in fact.86.150.54.159 (talk) 20:03, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't a new development. Welford has probably stored US nuclear weapons since 1955, and it was heavily involved in the RAF Greenham Common and RAF Molesworth cruise missile deployments of the 1980s. --Ef80 (talk) 13:33, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Location[edit]

Regarding the comment about the “Works Unit Only” red signage being changed/removed, there is definitely still a red bordered and red text sign on the M4 travelling Eastbound as I remarked about it today (3rd July 2021) as we passed it. However I don’t know how far back from the junction it is sited. Jmbatchelor (talk) 17:43, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
