Kelvin Grove Campus (QUT)

I'm proposing that the Kelvin Grove page be merged back into the main article. However I wont stand in the way of any alternatives brought up. What I'll ask, is it really necessary to have a separate article on each of the QUT campuses? It would be better off merging this back either into this article, or either create a Campuses of QUT page or something similar, with a detailed mention of each QUT campus. --Arnzy (talk • contribs) 06:37, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Please note the following:

• qut.com - all references have been updated to qut.edu.au
• Faculty of Business accreditation: note that the 'Faculty of Business...is one of the very few business schools', not 'universities'
• Faculties: removed former faculties; there would be a number of former faculties beside the humanities faculty that have been changed over the years.
• Statistics: current figures are as at 2008; an 2009/2010 is expected soon.
• NHRMC grants are not specifically related to IHBI, as faculties also receive these grants, so I have removed the reference under IHBI.Ontweeb (talk) 04:56, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Changing some of this content as it is incorrect. QUT does offer a Bachelor of Science degree. Also the current article makes it sound like there are only two universities in Queensland, when in reality there are (from memory) about 10 or so. Russco 01:51, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Having just searched their web site, I can't find any mention of a Bachelor of Science offered. Maybe you're thinking of the Bachelor of Applied Science? Anyway I agree your modifications to the article are an improvement, so I guess it doesn't matter ... — Danc 13:43, 6 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Other universities in Queensland include: University of Queensland (UQ), Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Griffith University, Central Queensland University (CQU), University of Southern Queensland (USQ), James Cook University, Bond University, and Australian Catholic University (ACU). --Andrew 09:51, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

Maybe somebody should reword the article. It should provide important information on the university, not advertise it. If it is a very good university, then this should be indicated through facts and statistics, not emotive language without verification.

I pruned a few of the overtly sensationalist phrases. Sometimes I cringe at institutional egos. Of course, QUT fans aren't the only culprits. Unfortunately it seems to occur on an official basis too. I'm a QUT student and I wonder who's in charge of the university's petty advertising campaign. They've arranged for advertisements to be displayed on the side of council buses - "wave, your future boss may be on board", etc. Then there's the expensive television adverts about alumni in the United States. The "student" paper seems to be little more than a self-promotional ego boosting enterprise. It sends the wrong message about institutional priorities - that the organisation is more interested in fostering an elitist atmosphere than an educational experience. We're not awash in cash so why blow limited resources on advertising? - Nathan

This article seems to have a few too many pictures for the amount of content it has once the marketing language and copyright violations from QUT's own website and promotional material have been removed. It gives the article a bit of a cramped feel, and does weird things to the placement of the section editing links besides. Unless we can get some more content for the article to balance out the images, I'm going to remove them after a little while. --Dalziel 86 23:59, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Misc2

I am new to editing wikipedia, so please bear with me. I am a web content editor in QUT's Web Services team and QUT's Director of Marketing and Communication has recommended that I review this page. I have restructured the page with the aim of providing a solid, unbiased base upon which more information can be added. I have retained relevant information, but reworded and restructured some other sections. I have updated outdated information and provided more up-to-date links where appropriate. QUT's Web Services team will check back regularly to see how it's developing.

CRCs

I see the Dementia CRC has been added under Research. According to the QUT website (http://www.ocs.qut.edu.au/crcs/currentcrcin.jsp and http://www.qut.edu.au/research/our-research/institutes-centres-and-research-groups), it is involved in at least 10 CRCs. To avoid cluttering up this page by listing them all, is it worth creating a separate page, or would that be overkill? Should CRCs just be listed in a section, separate from Institutes? Thoughts? I added the DCRC as it is situated at QUT. As far as I know only 2 of the CRCs are actually located at QUT(Dementia CRC and Wound Management Innovation CRC). If they all (or several) are located at QUT they may warrant their own page or atleast their own section. Do you know where the others are located? MitchMcM (talk) 07:26, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Student Guild

I've reverted the blanking of the Student Guild section again, and removed some of the political-sounding statements (which I didn't think were really relevant anyway). Hopefully this solves the issue. Lowstep (talk) 06:17, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Canberra Campus
