The Green Dragon Halberd[edit]

is legendary. It is featured in legends and magical stories. Guan Yu, a most-likely real person who also has many magical legends ascribed to him, used the legendary Green Dragon Halbred, killed a bazillion rebels and bandits with it. The one at the Purple Cloud Temple is almost certainly not the real one used by Guan Yu, if it ever really existed at all. Addition of "legendary" is not commentary. Calling that weapon in the Purple Cloud Temple THE Green Dragon Halbred is POV commentary.

Also, Guan Yu, the earlier mentioned Emporer and General, is not really a Buddhist figure. Buddhists like him, if they are Chinese Buddhists. But Guan Yu mostly figures in Dao and Confusion (Three Kingdoms) thought. So I summarized it as "Chinese." Luke 19 Verse 27 (talk) 04:10, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As far as legendary goes, we generally don't use words such as those due to the common vernacular use of the word.

As far as Chinese vs. Buddhist: Not all Chinese people are Buddhists. Therefore "summarizing" all Chinese people as Buddhists would be inappropriate. It could, possibly be changed to say "Chinese Buddhists" however. -Aaron Booth (talk) 18:53, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You're out of your element, Donny. There is no such thing as a Buddhist deity. Guan Yu is a historical figure for whom legend has been ascribed. The Purple Cloud Temple is a Daoist temple. Guan Yu features prominently in Confuscian literature as an ideal leader. I don't know how Guan Yu is connected with Buddhism. "Chinese religion" is a loose term, they don't practice religion like in the West (where you only get to pick one). Chinese religion is a composition mostly of Dao, Buddha, and Confuscius, and in this way, Guan Yu is a Chinese diety. How are you calling him Buddhist? He might have never even heard of Buddha during his lifetime.

Now, for the Green Dragon Halberd. I wasn't using the word "legendary" as a synonym for "awesome." The article earlier said the temple contained THE Green Dragon Halberd. This is like a church saying they have Jesus's sword (the Not-An-Olive-Branch Deathshard). I added legendary, because the weapon is based on a legend. It is supposedly made out of a green dragon.
