This page should not be deleted. It is not blatant advertising, it is a reference article for The Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies, an independent, non-advocacy, non-profit (not commercial) academic entity that is a key player in the burgeoning field of Nanotechnologies. The project is referenced/cited in at least three other places in Wikipeda - the first is in the General WIKI on Nanotechnology under applications, the second is on the list of nanotechnology information groups wiki page under the third, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars Page. I am the project coordinator and authorized representative. The Project is a financially independent entity that is a partner with the Wilson Center - it is a key reference in the general nanotechnology article and deserves its own page (just as others in the list of nanotechnology organizations have). - I have reviewed the items above. Responses inline below
- Regarding Conflict of Interest:
- The information contained in this page is the official stated information regarding mission and staff of the project - which, by its inclusion in the main Wiki article on nano, and list of nanotechnolgoy organizations should be deemed relevant. It contains no opinions or advocacy related statements.
- Regarding Spam:
- I have removed the direct reference to the project's website. The only links to the website occur in the sources (from which the content of the article was garnered) and relevant external soruces (project partners Woodrow Wilson Center and Pew Trusts)
- Regarding Soapbox:
::1. Propaganda or advocacy of any kind. Of course, an article can report objectively about such things, as long as an attempt is made to approach a neutral point of view. You might wish to go to Usenet or start a blog if you want to convince people of the merits of your favorite views.
- The project by its nature is non advocate. As a part of the Woodrow Wilson Center and Part of the Smithsonian Institution (a US Federal Government entity) it is public institution and is explicity prevented from lobbying or advocacy activities.
::2. Self-promotion. It can be tempting to write about yourself or projects you have a strong personal involvement in. However, do remember that the standards for encyclopedic articles apply to such pages just like any other, including the requirement to maintain a neutral point of view, which is difficult when writing about yourself. Creating overly abundant links and references to autobiographical articles is unacceptable. See Wikipedia:Autobiography, Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
- The article has been revised to contain only the project's affiliate organizations, official mission, staff etc. All of these are factual, third party verifiable and undisputable. If the language needs to be changed in some way, please advise.
::3. Advertising. Articles about companies and products are acceptable if they are written in an objective and unbiased style. Furthermore, all article topics must be third-party verifiable, so articles about very small "garage" or local companies are not likely to be acceptable. External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they can serve to identify major corporations associated with a topic (see finishing school for an example). Please note Wikipedia does not endorse any businesses and it does not set up affiliate programs. See also Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) for guidelines on corporate notability.
- The project is not a very small or "Garage"company. It is non commercial, non advocacy (by law).
