"Drexel also had interest in making an exchange of land with the Powelton community--an empty concrete lot at the corner of 32nd and Powelton Avenue for a community garden on 33rd and Race Street." - This is a POV unless substantiated.

A user keeps on re-adding the link http://www.business-services.upenn.edu/communityhousing/survey/index.html, which is titled The Building of West Philadelphia - An Historical Survey of Suburban Architecture, which a very informative article. I have moved the link to the West Philadelphia article as it is better situated their as the website covers West Philadelphia not just Powelton Village, which is just a small part of West Philadelphia. Coming home again[edit]

Of course that photo is not of the house we had an apartment in, at least I cannot prove it. But it brought back memories. Lived there in late 1950s and beginning of 1960s. Great place, walking distance to my classes in the Univ. of Penn medical school and graduate school. I remember one story - earlier a student had been killed in the Village, when he went out to mail a letter at a postbox. Toughs needed a bit of money to get into a local dance. The PO made sure that could never happen again, they removed all postboxes in the area. I had the apartment the victim had been in. --Dumarest 20:14, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
