Speedy deletion[edit]

I am sick of the speedy deletion out being used.... However recommended it for speedy deletion just gave a blanket statement with no substantiating evidence. Please provided the copyrighted material where it was pulled from so that I can research it and then maybe I will go along with the speedy deletion... otherwise I will assume that the article was just written too well and that is why it was flagged as copyrighted material and I will vote against speedy deletion and recommend that it just be wikified. xerocs 19:56, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

nevermind, I agree with the speedy deletion. It is copyvio material http://www.mp3.com/Pop-Rap/genre/577/subgenre.html Sorry. Thanks. xerocs 19:59, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great, edit conflict XD Circeus 20:03, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If that was for me thanks... but what is XD?? xerocs 21:15, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Smiley. Circeus 21:22, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, is that like a frustrated smiley... or a constipated one? xerocs 21:44, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I call it "the other :-)". My frustrated smiley is ">.<" (anime smiley). Circeus 22:58, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Change target to hip pop[edit]

The target page of this redirect should be hip pop, rather than hip hop. The hip pop article says "...is commonly called pop rap in the US". Adabow (talk · contribs) 03:00, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That assertion is actually unsourced, and when we had a separate pop rap article it was deleted for precisely that reason. I'd rather simply remove the non-Japan stuff from hip pop. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward: not at work) - talk 11:53, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this article still around?[edit]

Shouldn't this be deleted by now? Typing in pop rap redirects to hip hop music anyway, so I don't see the purpose in this, if nobody is going to read it anyway. --R3troguy420 (talk) 13:18, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Most of it seems to be random, arbitrarily included, or just plain not true. Certainly needs a clean up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nikki Lee 1999 (talkcontribs) 01:08, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Why is this article not deleted yet? --Nedks1 (talk) 17:31, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 8 December 2019[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved as requested per the discussion below. Please take to AfD if necessary. The previous edit history of "Pop rap" is now at Pop rap (genre). Dekimasuよ! 08:14, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pop-rapPop rap – All other rap genres don't use hyphens and considering that music platforms like Spotify refer to this as "Pop Rap", I think we should move it to follow the same naming convention and what the industry uses. AquilaXIII (talk) 08:07, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Relisting. Dekimasuよ! 05:37, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Agreed. Move -- Jjm596  12:11, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I always thought that this would be a better title for the article, but I never did do any research and thus decide to speak up. What's Google's result count comparison? I never thought of a streaming platform listing a genre a certain way as being terribly reliable, so is there something else we could look at? I'm not opposing necessarily, just encouraging you to give better evidence. dannymusiceditor oops 02:53, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Significant edit history at target. Dekimasuよ! 05:33, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I note that the page was previously redirected in a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pop rap, but this version of the page appears to be completely different from that one. If necessary this can be taken to AfD again, but I don't see a reason to stop the request from going through at this time. The complicating factor is that the article was probably created here because Pop rap was under full protection. Dekimasuよ! 08:11, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Why does melodic rap not have its own Wiki page and why does the history of Pop Rap on this page completely disregard 2013-2020+'s wave of Melodic Rap?[edit]

Is it just because everyone has slept on real legit innovative hip hop for so long that you essentially do not believe it deserves to exist? What exactly would you call Young Thug, Future, and the millions of offshoots of rappers from 2013-2020 and beyond that breach far beyond "Pop Rap" (YoungBoyNBA for example) that are making Melodic Rap? Why doesn't it have its own genre page, or at least an entire section in this page?

You say "also known as melodic rap" when you don't even reference the actual music from the 2010s that led to that terminology (in the modern sense.) 2601:988:180:1010:A914:D345:7309:FD11 (talk) 22:19, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
