Proposed merge with Polypterus lapradei[edit]
Both Fishbase and the Catalog of Fishes recognize "lapradei" as a synonym of P. birchir, not a valid subspecies. Taxonomy aside, much of the content of Polypterus lapradei can easily be applied to Polypterus bichir (the "parent" taxon), and it's better to have a valid species developed from a stub (i.e. greater visibility and more inter-wiki links) --Animalparty-- (talk) 05:10, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
This is completely incorrect, Polypterus Bichir Bichir and Polypterus Lapradai are two different established species. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.201.53.196 (talk) 20:34, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
