The entry for Sukhum, Abkhazia keeps being changed by anonymous IPs based in Georgia. As Abkhazia is recognised as a state by the Russian Federation, it is appropriate to treat Abkhazia as a state in this article. It is not the imaginary Sukhumi or Sokhumi in Georgia that Podolsk has a twinning with, but the real Sukhum, capital of an independent Abkhazia, which hasn't been in Georgia since 1993. If these anonymous IPs don't like this being reverted, I suggest they stop being sneaky and have the courage to discuss the matter on the talk page.Bofoc Tagar (talk) 18:44, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Abkhazia is recognised as a state by the Russian Federation, but it's The English Wikipedia, not the Russian. –BruTe Talk 10:51, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In the case of a similar dispute relating to Kilmarnock the general consensus seemed to be that the way things were expressed by the parties responsible for the twinning was what counted. The official position of the Russian authorities would imply that the twinning is viewed in the context of Abkhazia being regarded as a sovereign state.
