This series was recorded and transmitted in black and white on the VHF 405-line TV system.[edit]

Not according to the Kaleidoscope Comedy Research Guide (1997) - they were 625-line black and white, not 405 line. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.12.136.81 (talk) 21:40, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

american version[edit]

An American version was made called welcome Back Kotter. The part of tough guy Eric was recast as an Italian American called Vinnie Barbarino and was played by John Travolta. The real star of the show though was the US version of Denis, who was called Horshak. 82.42.126.68 (talk) 16:18, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed that Kotter is remarkably similar to Please Sir - but I can find no authoratative evidence for saying that it is in fact a remake or in anyway linked to Please Sir. There is nothing in the credits to suggest that it is an authorised version and the creators claim to have based their characters on real life schoolmates.
