Businesswoman?[edit]

Unfortunately, the article does nothing to indicate with what kind of business she is involved. Could someone clarify that? Badbilltucker 16:28, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why Sherman-Denison category?[edit]

Did George ever live in either of these two cities? Or is someone perhaps confusing Denison with her hometown of Denton, Texas? Emoll 22:09, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can't we say "Miss George" instead of "George"?[edit]

"George was Miss America 1971." Such a phrase sounds too modern to me, as if Phyllis George was a transgender person, but in the 20th century, beauty queens were still women. "George" is her family name, of course, but at the same time it is a male first name. So my suggestion would be: can't we change the article's writing style to replace every "George" with "Miss George" for gender clarification? 93.219.144.82 (talk) 04:49, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I understand your thinking, however biographies must conform to the style guide (see WP:SURNAME which states that subsequent uses must be the surname/family name without "Miss" etc preceding it.
