Museum Cafe and Gift Store Sections[edit]

My take is that the article doesn't need to include these sections as it makes the article sound like a marketing brochure. Other Wikipedia articles on museums typically do not include cafe and store information. I would suggest that we remove these sections and expand on other sections to add more flesh to the article. Please reply below if you agree about removal of the cafe and store sections. Thanks. Lightspeedx (talk) 22:46, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and would suggest that the section on the theater also sounds like marketing. The Field Museum article might provide inspiration for making this article more encyclopedic and less sales pitch. Actually, this whole article except for the history section seems more like a marketing brochure. I think it needs some real research and rewriting. I'll put it on my list and maybe I'll get to it, but if anyone gets there first, great!Teresa J. Mayfield (talk) 23:28, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken a stab at the article to add external sources and other information to flesh it out. Due to that the Victory Park campus for the museum is very new, there's not a lot of external sources yet - beside the pre-launch and first day media coverage type of information. I removed the cafe and store info as it was too sale-sy sounding. I will take a look at the Field Museum article. Thanks for your suggestion. I looked at the Wikipedia article on California Academy of Sciences (similar type of museum like Perot Museum) but unfortunately that one is not well written. It's a really awesome museum but alas, the Wikipedia article on it is not reflective of that. I also agree that the Perot Museum theater info sounds very marketing too. I will try to do some research on it to see how it can be re-written. I am unsure if there are research libraries (like the Field Museum) available to the public at the Perot Museum. If anyone has information, please add to it. At this time, I think the more information we can add to the article, the better it is and we can edit out and re-write what seems weak (based on research). I also added more information about the building's design because in itself the building is like an exhibit and that the building has won an green award. Some other museum buildings like the Field Museum are located in a historical building which has a lot of information of its own. I think there's merit to having information about the building. I have also created a redirect named "Perot Museum" which comes to this page. This way anyone who searches for "Perot Museum" will be auto directed here. Lightspeedx (talk) 03:29, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dallas Children's Museum[edit]

Does anyone know which day and month the Dallas Children's Museum was founded? I tried to Google but I could only find the date, not the day or year. Please add if you know the day or month to the history section of the article. Lightspeedx (talk) 07:30, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
