Handbook of Northwestern Plants by Helen M Gilkey and La Rea J Dennis, Revised edition 2001, has an entry for this plant.

"Pentagramma triangularis (Kaulf.) Yatsk., Windham & E. Wollenw. Goldback fern. Rhizomes stout, covered with dark scales; stipes glabrous, about twice the length of the blades; leaves 6-10 cm. tall, leaf blades thin to leathery, broadly triangular in outline, 1-2-pinnate, basal pinnae largest, asymmetrical, lower surface covered with a yellow to golden-yellow powder.
