River Name[edit]

Hey, I was wondering where the river got it's name from. Thanks!—Preceding unsigned comment added by Megamon88 (talkcontribs) 16:16, 24 February 2006

From "Peace Point", a place on the lower course of the river, where peace has been reached between the Beaver Nation and the Cree. --Qyd 20:46, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Peace River Housing[edit]

Why is there a link to a rental company in the External Links section? Isn't that just advertising? Nwinant (talk) 22:06, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes indeed, I will go a head and remove it. Shannºn 05:46, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

An RM has been launched which includes moving this back to Peace River due to what I see is unnecessary disambiguation here, this being the primary use and most common use of the name.Skookum1 (talk) 19:42, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Treaty of the Peace[edit]

I would very much like to know more about this treaty and the circumstances which led to it. It is notable as a treaty between two First Nations. Perhaos it shouldn’t be notable for that reason, but so much of what we read is European history. The reference given (Dawson Creek, past and present; an historical sketch. by Coutts, M. E.) isn’t readily available. There is nothing online except library catalogue entries. The 65-year-old book itself can only be obtained at a steep price. If there is someone who either has a copy, lives in the peace country, or is interested in indigenous history, i’d love to see an article about the treaty.
