Hello, I will be reviewing this article. Check back soon for my review! Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page! CarpetCrawler (talk) 04:17, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On hold[edit]

The article looks great so far, but I must put it on hold. Here are my concerns:

- "The circus sparked his interest in entertainment, with the colours and the atmosphere of the circus influencing later work of Reubens." This sentence is a little confusing. I recommend a partial re-working.

  • "The circus' atmosphere sparked Reubens interest in entertainment and influenced his later work." ?--Yamanbaiia(free hugs!) 15:43, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that looks much better. :) CarpetCrawler (talk) 20:51, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- "Hartman and Reubens became friends, often writing and working on material together." Needs a citation. - Done

- "During the mid 1980s Reubens traveled the United States with a whole new The Pee-wee Herman Show, playing notably at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Caroline's in New York City and, in 1984, in front of a full Carnegie Hall." Needs a citation. - Done

- "Playhouse was designed as an educational yet entertaining and artistic show for children and, despite being greatly influenced by 1950s shows Reubens watched as a child like The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, The Mickey Mouse Club, Captain Kangaroo and Howdy Doody, it quickly acquired a dual audience of kids and grownups.[22][17][20]" The three citations at the end need to be in numerical order. Should be 17, 20 then 22. - Done

- "Playhouses premise was host Pee-wee Herman living in a wild house, known as the Playhouse, full of pop art, vintage toys, talking furniture and other puppet and human characters. Each episode usually contained a running gag particular to that episode, and/or a specific occasion that would send Pee-wee into an emotional frenzy. The show had many recurring gags, themes, and devices, for example at the beginning of each show, viewers were told the day's "secret word" and were instructed to "scream real loud" every time a character on the show said the word. Despite being a live action show there were lots of puppet and clay animation sequences, some of them made by Peter Lord and Nick Park, creators of Wallace & Gromit." Whole paragraph needs citations.

OK, good! I must have accidentally missed that, my apologies! CarpetCrawler (talk) 20:51, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- "In 1987, Reubens provided the voice of REX, the main robot in the George Lucas produced Disneyland attraction, Star Tours,[5] and reprised the role of Pee-wee Herman in a cameo appearances in the film Back to the Beach and TV show Sesame Street." Needs citations - Done

- "but a "greasy, bearded freak" with a "scary goatee," shocked the public, many assuming the show had been canceled because of the arrest.[52][14]" Switch the citations around. - Done

- "He appeared as Pee-wee once more in 1992, when he participated in a Grand Ole Opry tribute to Minnie Pearl.[23][18]" Switch the citations around. - Done

- The section titled "1990s and Blow" is also iffy to me. The title of the section is a little confusing, I recommend a different title.

  • I think that's a matter of opinion, it seems appropriate to me as nothing else of "importance" happens on that paragraph. I guess it could be changed to "1990s and comeback in Blow"? --Yamanbaiia(free hugs!) 15:43, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, I am not saying that his role in Blow wasn't important, I just think that the title reads funny. Read it out loud and see what I mean. The second version you suggested is much better. CarpetCrawler (talk) 20:51, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done

- Add quotation marks in the quote box in the "Child pornography arrest: 2001" section. - Done

- "Prior to his arrest, Reubens had made a guest appearance on the hit TV series Everybody Loves Raymond, playing the role of Amy McDougall's comic-book-obsessed brother (Russel McDougall). His arrest prompted the show's star, Ray Romano, to object to Reubens being a part of the show's cast and actor Chris Elliott was cast as the character of Peter McDougall, apparently a second brother of Amy's, to replace Reubens' role.[citation needed]" This section has a "citation needed" tag attached to it. Some reviewers would fail the article automatically, however, I believe that if you can find a source to this statement, it will be OK. Find a source for the statement, and if you can't, just remove it, and save it to something until you can re-add it with a reference. -Done

- "Reubens has also had small parts dubbing or making cameos in a series of Cartoon Network projects such as the 2006 television film Re-Animated, the animated cartoon series Chowder and Tom Goes to the Mayor, and in the Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!." Cite this, as well.

Yeah, it's just me being nitpicky, the citation is not all that important. Don't worry about this. CarpetCrawler (talk) 20:51, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- De-wikify "The Pee-wee Herman Story" in the "Future Pee-wee films" section. - Done

- "The second film, a family-friendly epic adventure, is called by Reubens 'Pee-wee's Playhouse: The Movie',[80][24]" Switch the citations around. - Done

Until my concerns are met, I will place this article on hold. I will give you seven days to fulfill my requirements. If you have any concerns, or if you have addressed my concerns fully, please send me a message on my talk page. Thanks, and good luck! CarpetCrawler (talk) 02:25, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reponded to your concerns, when you have fully addressed my additional concerns, and are done with my concerns, I will pass this article. Great job, and good luck! An additional seven days will be given to meet the requirements. CarpetCrawler (talk) 20:51, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I just stopping by, I just read a part of the article, it looks really good, maybe even FA worthy, but where is his filmography? No sign of it at all. Anyhow, nice job, aside from the missing filmography.--Music26/11 15:34, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
:') really? I might nominate it for FA once it becomes a GA. The filmography section is not mandatory, people usually know that for a list of films they can go to IMDB. I just think that the list sometimes makes a good concise article too long.--Yamanbaiia(free hugs!) 19:15, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations, the article passes! Wonderful job! And true, the filmography is not mandatory, but I can see where some FA reviewers will nitpick about it! Either way, this article passes, great work! :) CarpetCrawler (talk) 04:57, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
