Because the cover of Abbey Road featured the famous "28 IF" licence (implying that McCartney would be turning 28 IF he had been alive), he decided to airbrush an alternate shot from the photo session, modifying the plate accordingly, which now reads "58 IS" (Contary to popular belief, 58 was not McCartney's age when the album was recorded; he was only 50) as well as including a contemporary photo of himself walking Martha, his sheepdog immortalized in "Martha My Dear" in 1968.

Paul was only 50 in 1993.--Cuchullain 07:38, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

License plate - 58IS or 51IS?

I've not seen a cover in resolution high enough to be able to make out the registration number - but it's usually quoted as 58IS. This would also be easier to edit into the picture. However, 51IS is closer to his age at the time; what is it supposed to read? - Torika (talk) 11:21, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
