Tone tag[edit]

I added a tone tag as the introduction to the article reads more as a eulogy than anything else. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 02:23, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because of the new expanded prose, I added other tags - the whole thing is very poor, to much detail for some things and no verifiable 3rd party references, no inline citations and too much reference his own books that are listed as references not as bibliography. I note your comments and will revise the text to remove peacock terms and will include inline citations. This is not an autobiography as the individual has been dead for a number of years. I work in the same University on the academic staff and he would never have agreed to this article during his lifetime. He was quite and unassuming. The motivation for writing the article was a reflection on his original economic work that provided him - along with T K Whitaker – with the intellectual basis for breaking out of the 1950s economic slump in the Irish economy. As the Irish economy has now returned to some of these historic issues, I am setting out how he addressed them on previous occasions. --Goldstar68 (talk) 11:31, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Goldstar68, you should look at the biography tips and conform with them but the main issue is no verifiable 3rd party sources. Writing an article and then trying to fit references to the article is much harder than writing an article based directly on sources from the its inception. I note the NPOV tag of November 2009 and focused in on the style and language choice. I do not know if the tag came from a bot or another editor as I found no comments on the talk page as mentioned in the tag. However, I am very interested in the topic and would love to hear from others of any viewpoint. We can talk on this page or they are very welcome to contribute to the page. I note the comments of Johnbod and I am somewhat disappointed. In the case of Johnbod, I did refer back to your page and I must commend your excellent work. This would be a very high standard for Prof Lynch but you should note my reference 55. This is a small country compared to the UK and it cannot possibly compare to such a high standard of excellence. When the National of Library could not get any significant funds and was living off an era of an inherited collection from a colonial era, Prof Lynch set about organising private citizens to help in the funding and promotion of this National institution. He performed similar tasks for the library of the Royal Irish Academy, Royal Dublin Society library, was active in the libraries in University College Dublin and the Kildare Street Club. If despite these achievements, you are of the view that this work was not notable, then I will respect your deletionGoldstar68 (talk) 19:07, 6 August 2010 (UTC).[reply]

: He was a member of the Capital Investment Advisory Committee of the mid-1950s, which established the use of the tax system as an engine of Irish economic development. He was a member of the Association for Civil Liberties and of the Anti-Apartheid Movement although he did not agree with the academic boycott of South Africa. In 1986, when violent protests forced Dr Conor Cruise O'Brien^[1] to abandon a series of lectures at the non-discriminatory University of Cape Town, he publicly attacked the Anti-Apartheid Movement's then chairman, Kader Asmal, who had accused O'Brien of betrayal. Dr O'Brien had spent part of his career helping the University of Ghana become established.
