Why do 'Petite Couronne' and 'Grande Couronne' redirect here?[edit]
The aire urbaine is an INSEE statistical area of its own creation that has nothing to do with France's 'departmental' administrative boundaries. Trying to fit the Grande and Petite couronnes into the aire urbaine (or its unité urbaine and couronne (périurbaine)) is like trying to fit a square peg into an ever-changing round hole; they aren't even comparable, which probably explains why there are no citations to that effect.
"The Grande Couronne (Greater Crown, i.e. Outer Ring) includes the towns of the metropolitan area" - this is only vaguely true: the aire urbaine extends past the 'Greater crown' in a few places and recedes into it in others, but this is what you get when you try to compare two entities that have nothing to do with each other - and the result is a sentence that explains nothing.
If anything, these two sections should be removed and the redirects pointed to the administrative Île-de-France region to which the Grande and Petite couronnes belong. THEPROMENADER 16:53, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
