Genre Controversy

I think that until we can come up with a main spectacle of genres, I am leaving it at hard rock. I mean, seriously, this is ridiculous! Post your opinions here, and please don't make any changes without consulting this section. Thank you kindly. RaikiriChidori (talk) 22:41, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Hard rock and alt rock are fine, but you can't have unresolved subgenres listed in the infobox. It's against policy to link it to the talk page, I'm too lazy to look it up now, but it is. Only the most general genres are supposed to be listed in the infobox anyway. The subs are for the article itself, so I say just list hard rock and alt rock. ╦ﺇ₥₥€Ԋ(talk/contribs) 01:53, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to bring up that there seems to be an accord going around on wikipeia with all the bands of this genre type (Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Three Days Grace...). The bands of this similar type are currently all being listed as "Alternative Metal/Post-Grunge/Hard Rock" I belive that Papa Roach should join this. Unauthorised reissue?

This is old, very old. If it's got a discography page, list only official album releases and maybe a chart performance for singles, and list the unofficial/tribute/etc. albums on the discography page. Reword / tidy

I'm just about to tidy up the main bio part. The grammar's a bit poor in places and things need "Wikified" such as album and magazine titles. Also, there seem to be two origins for the band's name. According to an interview with Dave Buckner on Pause & Play, "Coby's stepdad's last name is Roatch, and their grandfather was always called Papa. It's as simple as that". Old Friends from Young Years

I've had a dig online and this album does seem to be credited as Papa Roach's first. The edit which mentioned it wasn't exactly great, gramatically, but the fact seem straight. the photo in the article should be immediately replaced. it seems to come from a fashion magazine rather than from a music newspaper. i am sorry to say this personal opinion, but also the Italian version of this article appears to be written much better. User:85.18.14.4, 6/11/2006

Fansite links

At the moment there are 11 fansites listed under the "External links" section. As per Wikipedia's policy:

Fan sites: On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite is appropriate, marking the link as such. In extreme cases, a link to a web directory of fansites can replace this link. (Note: fanlistings are generally not informative and should not ordinarily be included.)

These links should be removed as it makes the page look untidy and is more-or-less a self-promotion thing.

The Paramour Sessions/Future, and Forever

okay, am I the only one that is updating this papa roach wikipedia page?
sure seems like it, somebody read the section and tell me what you think, I think I did a pretty good job with the acoustic stuff being on hiatus.

There is some new news from the band that the drummer, Dave Buckner, is on a short break, and is being filled in by someone else. I don't remember the name of the fill-in drummer, but you could find the name on paparoachunit.com. someone might want to add the info about that into the article.

Trombonist?

In the first paragraph, "Alan Dan Pease" is listed as the trombonist, but then it goes to say that "Ben Luther" was...so which one is it?

Lock?

Every fricking page needs to be locked, right now, for every band I can think of, retarded ips are adding bull crap genres to info boxes, and I am getting pissed. Sorry about the language and attitude, but this is bullcrap, Papa roach ain't punk, for gods sake, I had to revert every song that wasn't on Infest, because they all said Hard Rock, Alternative Rock, Punk Rock. its BS. Not to mention talk pages are getting so immature, all I see is lol, hahaha... Soon I am going to contact Jimbo Wales about this, because its getting worse day by day. Lyricist and Composer

Jacoby is the main lyricist for p-roach and tobin the main composer for p-roach. look into the booklet and jacoby is always writing the lyrics and tobin is always writing the music. so stop changing without a source —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.194.201.42 (talk) 08:52, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

This article does not even come close to fulfilling Wikipedia guidelines for citing sources. There are entire sections with one or zero inline citations. This article needs a lot of work. The Music and The Lyrics

I know that all of you will never believe me, no matte how much sources i give you. i don't know why but if someone of you out there has some records of papa roach than look into it. in all records is written to every single song who wrote the music and who wrote the lyrics. and all lyrics are written, (sometimes co-written) by the lead singer and the most music is always written (and sometimes co-written) by the bassist. just in the booklet of Infest, there is not written who wrote and composed the songs but on the other. so please just listen to me for one time and look into it. this is my source

Nu metal

Their are multiple sources calling papa roach nu metal, it's the genre the band have been associated with over their career, and they're even mentioned on the nu metal article, so i'm adding it to the genre field. I call the big one bitey (talk) 11:03, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Reverted for now. Just stating there are sources that state Papa Roach are nu metal isn't enough to go ahead and change the article. Genres are highly debated, so it would be better if you could first provide those sources before changing the genre without waiting for a reply. HrZ (talk) 17:27, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
