Inaccuracies[edit]

This article seems to be woefully inaccurate. The Ventura County website gives:

while the article links to:

http://portal.countyofventura.org/portal/page/portal/airports/Oxnard%20Airport/Airport%20History

It would take me hours to fix this...someone has mixed up Oxnard Airport (KOXR) with Oxnard Air Force Base (now Camarillo Airport -- KCMA). Any reference to Mira Loma Flight School, Oxnard Flight Strip, any type of commercial airline service and many others that I'm sure I'm missing are referencing KOXR, while anything related to the ADC interceptor base is referencing KCMA. A person with a good in-depth knowledge of local history should be able to correct this, but I'm afraid I don't know enough to make it right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RJointer (talk • contribs) 04:59, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here is another resource for an editor who wants to try to separate the history of the two airports - In 2008, Historic Resources Report, 1600 W. Fifth Street, Oxnard, CA was written about the Mira Loma Apartments - The good part starts at the bottom of Page 7 (P. 8 PDF). Fettlemap (talk) 04:50, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am the author of the above-cited report. Yes, this article is erroneous in many of the stated facts and mixes up the two airports. This is somewhat understandable due to the confusing naming of these facilities over the years. The airport that became KCMA (Camarillo) was originally known as the Oxnard Flight Strip when it was used by the Army as an advanced fighter training center 1943-44. After the war it became known, for a short time, as the Camarillo Flight Strip and was operated by the County of Ventura for civilian use. This ended quickly in 1951 when the airport was taken over again by the military and renamed Oxnard Air Force Base, which is remained until 1969. During the 1970s it was taken over again by the county and became Camarillo Airport. Oxnard Airport (KOXR), where the Mira Loma Flight Academy was located, was known at that time as Ventura County Airport. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.241.221.239 (talk) 20:51, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
