London Gazette entries for Osmond Barnes [1]

For O. Barnes (restricted to years of service) [2] David Underdown (talk) 16:40, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

High Sheriff of Herts[edit]

I'm confused, both sources list Frederick Cass as Sheriff for 1844?? David Underdown (talk) 16:30, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, David, my mistake. It seems Barnes was High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire in 1844. Chorleywood, although in Hertfordshire, is close to its boundary with Buckinghamshire. Xn4 12:27, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Make smore sense. Looks like the Obit was wrong about 1834, this "No. 19125". The London Gazette. 1834. carrys the original appointments for that year, and it's not him, and it doesn't look as if there was a later change (e.g. due to the incumbent dying)
Just as well you spotted it, and thanks for making the correction to High Sheriff of Hertfordshire. Xn4 14:20, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
