Book[edit]

I gleaned a few bits from a look inside session and hope to offer a bit more when the 2nd hand pbk arrives. Until then, toodle pip! Keith-264 (talk) 12:45, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The book is useful so I'm filling in gaps and removing confusions of chronology.Keith-264 (talk) 17:16, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Schofield and Nesbit is an invaluable source and I'm filling in the gaps. There's more to follow.Keith-264 (talk) 08:52, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pondering whether to split the article and create Operation Gearbox to slim the article. Keith-264 (talk) 10:21, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've decided to take the plunge.Keith-264 (talk) 10:21, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Gearboxes[edit]

Cautionary note: Much of the narrative has been gleaned from divers sources and it seems that some of them, like Roskill treat the later navy supply runs as Gearbox operations. Schofield and Nesbit use the terms to describe the successive Norwegian occupation forces so the terminology may be open to question. I've been looking for books and interweb sources but not found that much apart from a few PhDs. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 09:19, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@EnigmaMcmxc: Er, Fritham was a disaster....Keith-264 (talk) 02:07, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That may be the case (ship loss, Luftwaffe bombing, nothing apparently going to plan), but the article does not seem to make the case that these setbacks amounted to a German victory of some sort, such as the rejection of the force/stopping their mission? Maybe some things need to be more clarified?EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 02:52, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you're right, they were left waiting for a rescue so I might have to make this more explicit. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 10:09, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
