native american name[edit]

I am curious as to the native american name for the northeastern area of new mexico. . does anybody know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.118.142.250 (talk) 20:15, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The northeastern area of New Mexico does not have a substantial Native American population. The northwest area does and is commonly referred to as the Four Corners or the Navajo Nation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.26.105.4 (talk) 05:27, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are at least 15 pueblos in Northern New Mexico (some defunct), however there are three major pueblo language groups there, and at least seven different languages, plus there are the Jicarilla Apache. To the best of my knowledge none of them conceptualized this rather disparate area as a single unit. All of the pueblo geographical names that I have seen have been for much smaller units. I have no knowledge of Jicarilla geographical nomenclature. --Bejnar (talk) 03:02, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
