Noel Quin, HSBC CEO[edit]
Dear Dormskirk,
You may recall that I’ve been in touch in the past because of your interest in the FTSE100. I work for communications advisory firm Brunswick, and I am acting today on behalf of HSBC and their global CEO Noel Quinn. I can see that you helped establish a new entry about Mr. Quinn following his appointment in March. If it is useful to you and the community, I have assembled some further information about him, which might help to add some depth and detail to the entry. I’ve included some suggested citations as well, in case they are helpful.
Noel Quinn is a British banking businessman who is Group Chief Executive of HSBC Holdings plc as of March 2020, having succeeded John Flint.[1] He initially assumed the role on an interim basis in August 2019.[2]
Prior to becoming Group Chief Executive, Quinn was Chief Executive of HSBC’s Global Commercial Banking division from December 2015.[3] He became a Group Managing Director in September 2016.[4] From 2011 to 2015 Quinn was Regional Head of Commercial Banking for Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong.[5]
Quinn joined Forward Trust Group, a subsidiary of Midland Bank, in 1987.[6] Midland Bank was acquired by HSBC in 1992. He led HSBC’s acquisitions of Swan National Motor Finance and Eversholt Leasing Ltd, becoming General Manager of each business in turn.[7]
He has since served as Head of Specialised and Equity Finance at HSBC, Group Director of Strategy & Development at HSBC Insurance Services North America, Head of Commercial Finance Europe, and Head of Commercial Banking UK (2008-2011).[8]
