Added details on Biography and Contributions[edit]

I added details of Nikolai Smirnov's biography and contributions based on a translation of the latest revision of the equivalent Russian language Wikipedia page.

I have removed references to Russian sources, but at the moment citations from external sources are sparse. Please let me know if there is an accepted protocol for using sources in other languages on the English language Wikipedia.
