History of medicine[edit]

I think Nicoleas Tulp was instrumental in introducing standards of medicine (doseage advice in a lexicon for all druggists). Are there any others from the same period in Europe? Germany or England perhaps? Jane 21:23, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On a somewhat related note from the history of medicine, the reference in the main article to how "traditional" treatments remained, despite Tulp's supposedly "modern" descriptions of migraine and beriberi, are highly anachronistic. You would search in vain for a physician or surgeon whose treatments were not "traditional" in this respect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thbroman (talkcontribs) 15:09, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Family tree diagram[edit]

The family tree diagram is very hard to read. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.94.192.200 (talk) 10:17, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Book of Monsters Chimpanzee[edit]

Isn't that an Orangutan, not a Chimpanzee?

It even says "Orang-outang" in the picture itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.61.163.239 (talk) 22:52, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I had the same question, which is why I put it like that. I have no idea. I also don't know why it said it was from Angola, when as far as I know, the Dutch ships went to the Dutch East Indies. I couldn't find anything about the poor creature at all. By the way, it is still not considered certain that Tulp made these drawings himself or paid someone to do them. Who it might have been (including whoever engraved the drawings) is still a mystery. Jane (talk) 09:00, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
