Why?[edit]

What is the point of this article? As a "census designated place," Newport East is a complete fiction; no one says that they live in Newport East, and searching for it on Google only comes up with the plethora of sites that just insert every single place-name from the census into their generic ads. ("Find a lawyer in beautiful Newport East!") Whatever its boundaries are (and what are they?), it's completely within the real city of Newport. Would anyone object to me redirecting Newport East over to Newport? —Cleared as filed. 02:34, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

@Cleared as filed, (I might be a bit late), but, in continuing with the other articles in Wikipedia, it would probably be better to have a separate article for Newport East, rather than merging it into Newport. In addition, if you use the geocoordinate data, you realise that the center of the CDP is actually in Middletown, rather than Newport. This indicates that there is a substantial amount of Newport East is actually outside of Newport. Devinthepeng (talk) 15:12, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Devinthepeng Haha, my comment was made almost 11 years ago and my change to a redirect was reverted 8 years ago. If things moved any slower, I'd be concerned that Newport East wasn't a real place that anyone actually cared about! Oh, wait. —Cleared as filed. 18:09, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
