City of Newburgh, Orange County, NY[edit]

Newburgh was first settled by Palatines in 1709 following Pastor Joshua Kocherthal; Palatine descendants remain in the area (see the first section under "History"). Perhaps it was Scots emigrants that later changed the name, however, from "Palatine Parish by Quassaick" to "Newburgh".
