* Adding the link to the hospital care profile: hey I don't understand why my link has been removed: can you please look at it? I feel like it's clearly adding value to the page [lots of details on the performance of the hospital and presented in a much more easy to read / understand format than anything else I've come across. Thanks!

It doesn't meet WP:EL guidelines; i.e., it's a non-notable commercial site. Regardless if it's easier to read, most of not all of that data is available via government (non-commercial) sources. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:27, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Major Redaction[edit]

Just removed most of the article, after discovering that most of the Lede was copied and pasted from the hospital's website (and part of that was 'incorrectly' attributed to US News and World Report). The rest of the article was written in promotional language. The entire mishegas was a blatant violation of WP:NOTPROMOTION andWP:NOTADVERTISING. Hi, this is Linda from Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility. I want to request some changes which will help the article to comply better with Wikipedia policy guidelines that discourage articles from having "Controversy" or "Criticism" sections (WP:CSECTION). I propose to move all the content from the "Controversies" section and bring it into the "History" section. In addition to this change, I am also asking that one of the paragraphs that is now in the Controversies section be shortened so as to avoid the problem of undue weight. My proposal removes repetitive and unnecessary content, leaving behind the most concise description of the events discussed in that paragraph. It also adds an update about replacing the doctor at the center of the controversy.

  1. Delete the Controversies section and merge the content into the History section, placing it after the sentence that begins: "Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is home to one of the nation's ten largest heart transplant centers..."
  2. The following text should be used:
    In 2019 regulators found incidents in which the hospital recognized areas for improvement following unsuccessful surgeries, but did not carry out its own recommendations, leading to mistakes on subsequent operations. [1] Regulators also heard stories of hospital staff who failed to obtain informed consent or follow patients' and family members' "do not resuscitate" orders.[2][3] Weeks later, Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. issued a statement about the corrective actions taken by the hospital, saying, "Based on my communications with the hospital, I believe the situation is moving in the right direction at this time and I will continue to monitor it."[4]
    In 2020, the hospital suspended a staff member for distributing unauthorized protective gear after the staff member used GoFundMe to raise money to buy gowns and masks for hospital staff to use in dealing with Coronavirus disease 2019 patients.[5]

Linda at RWJBH, Linda, thank you for making an account and disclosing your COI. I will start making some changes that go in the direction that you want. The only part that I do not agree with is the shortening the information about the controversy too much as I don't think that there is that much of an WP:UNDUE problem here.
