Ingrid Bloom played Becky Jones

I've removed the section on the character Becky Jones played by Ingrid Bloom from the "notable characters" section, as I don't see any evidence that this character, or this actress, is notable. IMdb suggests this character only appeared in 16 episodes over three years. Neither the character nor the actress have an article, and no reference is providing showing that either is in any way notable. Hundreds of characters of this stature have featured in the show through its long run; to be included in this section we need to see concrete evidence from a reliable source that the character, or the actor portraying them, is notable. -- Finlay McWalterTalk 15:50, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

She's a non-notable, minor character, who probably appeared for a couple of episodes. I thought it was vandalism when I saw the editor add it two days ago (they removed it themselves). I was busy else where today, but I would have removed it too when I eventually saw it. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 16:00, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Channel Eleven

OK, we all know that Neighbours is moving to Channel Eleven in 2011.

However, please do not add this as a current channel until the programme starts airing on that channel. Also, Channel Eleven should not be listed under the original channels as it is simply not that --5 albert square (talk) 12:50, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

The lead

I could have sworn it was longer than that when I did the GA review, but it needs beefing up a bit—it's supposed to be a summary of the article, so it would be useful if the only thing the reader looked at. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:04, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

I've just had a look at no it wasn't longer. In fact the lead has hardly changed since it was promoted to GA. I'm at a loss though as to what to add to it as we don't want it too long. I actually think it's fine as it is --5 albert square (talk) 14:14, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Well compare it with The Bill's lead section and you'll see what I mean! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:21, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Would any of the criticism on Susan Bower's page be ok to add to the lead? The only thing with that is that it was the producer that was criticised for changes etc made to the soap, I don't think the soap was directly criticised. That's the only thing I can think of --5 albert square (talk) 14:27, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
It has changed a little, some info has been removed. I had plans to expand it when I was going through the article, but I had to put it off for other things. I was using the EastEnders lead as a guide. I'm currently working on another Neighbours article at the moment, but I'll try and add something to it a bit later. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 14:40, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Well the lead isn't an introduction, it's supposed to be a summary of the entire article, so I'd suggest you go through the article and see what isn't mentioned in the lead. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:41, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I'll work on the article now. I don't want to see the article lose it's GA status. ;) - JuneGloom07 Talk? 14:48, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay, what do we think? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 15:21, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Excellent work! That looks like the lead section for a GA now! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:28, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Natalie Imbruglia

She's a notable cast member. There are others, perhaps more notable than, say, Tom Oliver.RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 02:32, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

There are loads of notable cast members, however this isn't an article for listing every single one of them. During the GA review we decided to cut the (very) long list down to about nine or ten. Tom Oliver is notable for being the longest running character in the show's history. - JuneGloom Schmooze 12:40, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Character infoboxes

OK, I noticed AP doing something quite clever today with the EastEnders character infoboxes of those that are or have been married.

The reason for this is because on some character pages the name of the character page is totally different to the name displaying above the character picture. A Neighbours example of this is Donna Freedman. It was agreed to add this section in firstly to make the articles clearer and also to make them tidier.

I was thinking about doing the same to the Neighbours articles. What does everyone reckon to this?

Also, can anyone remember what Callum's surname is now? I thought for a time that he changed it to Jones-Rebecchi? I can't remember him changing it back! --5 albert square (talk) 16:37, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

I think it's a great idea. It is confusing when things don't match. Tbh, I'd like the other soap opera's to follow suit. You have my backing.RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 16:49, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm also going to bring it in to Toadie and Callum's pages. With Toadie's page the page name and photo match up but straight away the first paragraph says his name is Jarrod! The infobox is supposed to give a quick synopsis of the person and those only browsing the article quickly might be confused as to where Jarrod suddenly appears from. If I put something like "alias: Jarrod Rebecchi (birthname)" it makes it clearer. With Callum, I'm sure he changed his name to Jones-Rebecchi for a while even if he doesn't call himself it now so it would still count as an alias. --5 albert square (talk) 17:03, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but a maiden name is not an alias. The names are already mentioned in the lead, so why do they need mentioning again? Callum has always been and still is Jones. - JuneGloom Schmooze 17:26, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
June, you're misunderstanding it. Either that or I've not explained it properly :)
Look at the diff for Stacey Slater as an example. What Anemone has done is change the name above the photo to read Stacey Slater so it matches the page name. He's then put in an alias section in the infobox which reflects her married name of Branning. It just makes the pages look neater. As for Callum, I must have been mistaken, though could've sworn I heard him say it as well as see it on the credits :) --5 albert square (talk) 18:06, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
I thought the name at the top of the infobox should match the title of the article. The "other" soap character infobox has uses alias (and also nickname) so I figured that was the best way to add other names the character has had. It may not be a pseudonymn but wikt:alias#Noun says alias means "another name". And if we add "(married name)" or "(maiden name)" or "(undercover name)" or something like that afterwards then it's pretty clear what it means. AnemoneProjectors 18:12, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
What about characters that have four middle names, that have only ever been mentioned once, could that be included there in the alias?RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 21:46, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
I don't think middle names should be used, just first and last if they've ever been different. AnemoneProjectors 21:57, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
I have no objection to changing the name at the top of the infobox to match the article title, but I do to using the alias field for maiden/married names. Alias is a name that has been assumed temporarily, a married name (or middle name) is not temporary (well, it isn't supposed to be). The field would be useful for say, Lucas Fitzgerald as he went by the name of George Hanson for his photography. Now for some questions; What about characters that have had their surname changed more than once, do all of the names get listed? Or just the current one? To me, having all of the names listed looks very messy and could possibly be more confusing, see [1]. Do you put durations next to the names if they get divorced or no longer use the name? What happens if they get married and have a temporary fake name at some point? - JuneGloom Schmooze 22:19, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

AP, do you mean they shouldn't be used in the opening of the lead? That's what I meant, I'd love them to be shifted out, such a problem atm. I'd even like them to skips the alias to. Junegloom, if you think of the alias being a out of universe feature, it would mean that this name is just being used because of storyline, and is still known by the real name elsewhere. If you get my meaning?RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 22:28, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

June, I think all the names are listed but I could be wrong. If they are all listed though in the infobox it shouldn't be too messy. I don't think that durations will be required. --5 albert square (talk) 22:38, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
June, I'd suggest that you look at Denise Johnson, that has multiple names in the infobox, I think it's quite clear what's what --5 albert square (talk) 22:50, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
No I meant in the infobox under "alias", thought that's what you meant, RTO. Middle names I think should be used in the opening line but sometimes they're not consistent like with Sam Mitchell (EastEnders) but that still hasn't been dealt with. I wouldn't bother with durations for aliases. Maybe alias is the wrong word, I wanted to see how it's been used in articles that use the other soap character infobox or the general characer one if it's in there. AnemoneProjectors 00:49, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

We could have a married name field, I'm sure that would more than satisfy the nitpickers who want every minor detail changing as on-screen happens. Seperate from Alias, it would avoid confusion. And oh, it's just that a family in Hollyoaks, have three - five middle names a peice, thought it would be a good opportunity to shift them out some where out of the opening lol.RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 21:28, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Was looking at a BLP today (can't remember which one) and they had a "Other names" field in the ibox. That (or "Married names") would be better. I just think you're using the wrong field for something that is already there, albeit in a different format (in the lead). - JuneGloom Schmooze 00:57, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Maybe. Maybe we should just make sure the name in the infobox matches that of the article and do away with the alias. Maybe we're cluttering it up. AnemoneProjectors 01:06, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
I'd be happy settling for a "married names" field. Anyone else? --5 albert square (talk) 23:46, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Have you looked at how the other infoboxes use it? I always refer to Bree Van de Kamp! Thing is it won't always be a married name, because the married name might be the title of the page so the maiden name is needed to be listed. And it would affect other articles, not just Neighbours. We should probably stick to what other similar infoboxes use. AnemoneProjectors 00:17, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
So stick to the idea of the "alias" field? --5 albert square (talk) 00:29, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Yeah use it for Neighbours, I think a few of us agreed for that.RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 00:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
