DETC[edit]

I can't edit the main part of the document for some reason. The link is not showing up. But the statement that Nations University "claims to have applied for accreditation from DEC" implies that it may not be true. Name[edit]

DETC again[edit]

I realize that the university does not own this page, however this page has caused us grief with DETC. Furthermore, we have removed the reference you keep citing regarding the update (citation 5).(Jonroy.sloan1 (talk) 16:08, 11 February 2013 (UTC))[reply]

Specifically, DETC is still listed as an applicant in this DETC meeting report dated 8 February 2013 (3 days ago). I see no reason not to report that. I cannot, however, find any indication that DETC ever officially stated that NU passed a readiness assessment. My name is Jon Roy Sloan, and I am the Director of Communications for NationsUniversity. I respectfully request that any mention of DETC be removed from the NU article featured in Wikipedia until we finish the accreditation process. This places an undue burden upon us. Also, the link (citation 5) has removed and is a dead link that you keep referencing. We have an agreement with DETC that we would not mention them. It is their policy not ours but they asked why we had that on the wikipedi site in violation of our agreement. Thank you.

As noted on your Talk page, this article is about NationsUniversity - it is not owned by or controlled by the university in any way. If your accreditor has any questions, please feel free to direct them to this discussion. I'd also be happy to talk to them via e-mail if they still have specific questions or concerns; I'm just another Wikipedia editor but I work in assessment in higher education so speak the lingo.

And it's interesting to note that the only references we have to your application are from your accreditor's own website. It would be snarky of you to point that out to them but we're happy to explicitly note it ourselves. :) ElKevbo (talk) 16:43, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... I see that the link I posted no longer works. Earlier today it was working just fine and it wasn't hidden. I found it on the student newsletter page on the NU website. Louisiana? Tennessee?[edit]

An anonymous IP and now a new registered user have repeatedly edited this article to change the university's location from Brentwood, Tennessee to New Orleans, Louisiana. These changes are not supported by references, as required for verifiability, and they are contradicted by information in the published sources that are cited in the article. Sources (specifically, content on Nations' website) indicate that Nations is registered in Louisiana (possibly West Monroe, Louisiana) and has a mailing address there, but is operated from Brentwood, Tennessee. Without sources to support the assertion that Nations is now operating in New Orleans, I will continue to revert edits that change its location.

However, I did remove the location from the infobox; this is not a significant detail for a school that operates solely for distance education. --Orlady (talk) 15:52, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some details: In 2008, a user apparently affiliated with Nations created the article and described NationsUniversity as being incorporated in Louisiana, but with offices in Brentwood, Tennessee.[1] Currently, this webpage (which I cited in the article) gives Brentwood, Tennessee, as the address for the "Board of Regents" and New Orleans only as "mailing address". The most recent student newsletter mentions Brentwood twice and Louisiana never. The address in New Orleans may be the address of the law firm that incorporated NationsUniversity in Louisiana.
