Copyvio[edit]

I've placed the copyvio template on this article because in addition to a small area of provable violation, I believe there is likely to be substantially more. The identifiable copy duplicates italicized material at the bottom of this: [1]. The creator of this article also contributed to HIAS, pasting extensive text there from a pdf file. Expansion[edit]

The copyvio has been identified and deleted, leaving a stub with considerable room for expansion. I have no doubt about the notability of this organization. A "news" archive search shows 100s of hits. Some of these are press releases, but the majority seem to be some reputable source or the other quoting this organization's releases. Explanation of issue: The National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP) has moved from Columbia University to a different institution, Bank Street College of Education. I am a consultant for Bank Street and thus have a conflict of interest. That's why I'm respectfully submitting this as an edit request rather than editing the article directly.

Thank you for your request. I'd be happy to implement this edit for you, but I'm unclear on the meaning of the phrase "moved to". The sentence just before the one to be corrected is describing the affiliation between NCCP and Columbia. Then, the sentence states that they "moved from" Columbia to the Bank Street College of Eduation (BSCoE). Does this mean they moved their physical address to a new location? Or does it mean they are now in unison with BSCoE, as they previously were with Columbia? Please advise whether this is simply a change of address, or if there is something more here.

Thank you, Spintendo. That's a good clarifying question. NCCP left Columbia and became part of the Bank Street Graduate School of Education (which is itself part of Bank Street College of Education) in July. NCCP's About page puts this in perhaps more direct language: "As of July 1, 2019, NCCP is part of the Bank Street Graduate School of Education." The way the address is listed at the very bottom of that page may be useful, too: "National Center for Children in Poverty / Bank Street Graduate School of Education / 475 Riverside Drive, Suite 1400 / New York, NY 10115". Please let me know if you need more than that.

Thank you for that clarification. So would it be correct to characterize the alignment of these two organization as being both under the same roof and sharing the same goals/functions (i.e., helping one to escape poverty means helping one to find access to an education, etc.) I'm just trying to envision how these two organizations work together, and seeing how one is labeled with respect to poverty and the other as education leads understandably to an association based on those two labels (how one might affect the other) Is that correct? I'm happy making that change, but I don't want to add any language that would describe their association in a way which neither of those two would agree with; but I'm also thinking that just describing it as "moved to" might leave the reader with additional questions which that description leaves unanswered. Thank you, Spintendo, for those followup questions. I conferred with the chief of staff at Bank Street College of Education, and her response was that the way you characterized the change "is broadly correct – NCCP is a program housed within the broader Bank Street College of Education that has a particular focus on children and poverty." It's no longer part of Columbia University and is instead now a part of Bank Street College of Education. A better way to phrase my requested revision may be this: "In July 2019, NCCP moved from Columbia University to join the Bank Street College of Education." I know that doesn't give you a different source to cite, but is that enough clarification for you to be comfortable making an update to the article? -- DanielKlotz (talk · contribs) 19:34, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
