Please stop removing the controversy section. Users do not get to determine if something is considered significant or not by their own whims. - Thejournalizer July 1, 2020.

This article is a mess. Someone besides me please fix it, she's on Drudge's front page atm — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.43.248.14 (talk) 20:20, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

There's something not quite right about this article and Shannon Faulkner... are these real people?? Enochlau 23:45, 2 Nov 2004 (UTC)

They're very much real people. Nancy Mace's mother was a high school teacher of mine, and living near the Citadel, you hear the story of Shannon Faulkner and Nancy Mace frequently. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.243.244.22 (talk) 19:45, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

First Women Graduated from the Citadel in 1970

-Added correction. Mace WAS NOT first female to graduate from the Citadel. She was the first female graduate of the Corps of Cadets portion of the school. 18 Women graduated with Citadel Degrees in 1970.

Hmm, well The Citadel itself says Mace was its first female graduate. And that's what all of the WP:reliable sources I'm seeing echo. Marquardtika (talk) 20:50, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
Hmm, please see Citadel’s own site at : [1] for clarification. Most likely you’re a staffer or a friend of hers. As she’s running for political office, probably best to not turn this political, nor stretch the truth, and keep it accurate. Mace was first woman grad from Corps of Cadets portion of the school.99.203.17.210 (talk)
I've reverted your last edit, in which you make an unfounded accusation against another editor who has been making contributions to the site for years. Mace has been referred to as the "first female graduate of The Citadel by the school and the NY Times. I urge you to assume good faith, and not to edit war further. KidAd talk 16:41, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
We go with what the reliable sources say. As KidAd pointed out, The Citadel itself, as well as the New York Times, refer to Mace as the first graduate of The Citadel. Per verify, that's what our article should say, too. And if the Mace campaign is paying, let me know where I can remit my next mortgage! Marquardtika (talk) 16:56, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
No you’re ignoring what the school itself has posted. https://today.citadel.edu/at-91-citadels-first-woman-graduate-celebrates-50th-commencement-anniversary/ However, if accuracy is not paramount here, then I’ll leave it alone.

But Mace was NOT first woman to graduate from the citadel.

I think the issue is what "The Citadel" means. The article you posted says Maxine Hudson "earned a Master of Art in Teaching degree in the first graduating class of what is now The Citadel Graduate College." It then refers to her as the "first" woman graduate ("first" is in quotation marks in the article "because she completed her course work in December 1969, and then participated with the others in the May commencement ceremony that included them and the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.") Nancy Mace is the first female graduate of The Citadel military college, which eliminated its male-only admissions policy in 1996 (Shannon Faulkner was the first cadet to enroll in 1995, but she dropped out). Four women entered The Citadel in the fall of 1996; Mace was the only one to graduate and the fist female graduate of the institution. See this, this, this, and this for more info. Controversy section

Thejournalizer, First, it is important to note that new discussions begin at the bottom of the talk page, not the top. Second, per WP:ONUS, it is the responsibility of you (the person who wants content to be included) to gain consensus for that content on the talk page. As it stands now, the content you want included violates WP:NOTNEWS and WP:UNDUE. Do not edit war and gain consensus for this material. KidAd (talk) 20:47, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

The content is not new. Look at the history and how long it was there. We reverted it after noticing Ms. Mace's campaign removed it. thejournalizer (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:50, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

Thejournalizer, The age of the content is irrelevant. The content was added here by a user who has not made another edit in over a year. It is a violation of WP:WEIGHT to have an entire section dedicated to a single news story. Additionally, to overtly suggest that I am vandalizing the page by removing WP:UNDUE content is a violation of WP:CIVIL. KidAd (talk) 20:58, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
Thejournalizer, who do you mean by "we?" Please see WP:NOSHARING. Also, I see no evidence for your assertion above that the content was removed by "Ms. Mace's campaign." It was originally removed by User:CharlesShirley. Marquardtika (talk) 21:02, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
Could be a possible WP:COI issue. On User:Thejournalizer, it says I'm the founder of Digital District, a non-profit focused on improving digital literacy around DC. If this user is editing on behalf of their company, a campaign, or a political organization, they must declare it. KidAd (talk) 21:08, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
I presume "we" refers to the Charleston, SC. subreddit which had a popular post on the deletion of the "controversial" section. Users on the subreddit believed it was the Mace campaign (which it clearly wasn't). I support the deletion. There are at most three local stories on the incident. Muttnick (talk) 01:19, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
Found the thread, which includes the comment Welp, guess we're just going to keep hitting revert from the very same person edit-warring to include the content. Clear example of WP:CANVAS. KidAd (talk) 01:28, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
Agreed. This material needs to stay out. – Muboshgu (talk) 04:01, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
KidAd (talk) I haven't updated anything on here in a while, so DD is now a shuttered non-profit. We did not work with political figures or take on clients, just had members (usually professionals looking to get into marketing/social). So that is not an accurate assessment.Muboshguand Muttnick I am not understanding why three articles does not merit a relevant inclusion in this biography. Do you feel it needs national press coverage to become relevant? I am interested in seeing a precedent in what level of coverage makes it relevant or not. And yes, I absolutely did edit warn as there has yet to be any evidence to support that this item was not of interest to her constituents, and the section was going to be expanded with the recent inclusion of the recent cease and desist situation [2]. My apologies for the poor formatting, I'm very rusty and contributing. thejournalizer (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:04, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
The content in question was removed from the page because it violated WP:UNDUE and WP:NPOV, at least how it was written. If it was rewritten in a more neutral tone, then it may be re-included. In the future, avoid soliciting help from people on social networks to WP:CANVAS or WP:TAGTEAM. Remeber that Wikipedia is based upon WP:CONSENSUS-building, and is not a social media network. Marijuana Legalization

Dear Representative Mace: Under no circumstances should marijuana be legalized at the Federal Level. Please read article on it in the Epoch Times Newspaper concerning what the legalization did in Pueblo, Colorado. I helped your campaign, by the way, and probably would not have had I known you would support a measure such as this. It is the complete wrong road for this country and will weaken our country. Sincerely yours, Lowell Ingwersen Columbia, SC. 2603:6080:4E01:CACF:7D07:53E:3031:DE07 (talk) 00:12, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

Hey Lowell. Nobody reads things here but us lunatics. You'd best get your message to her through email or something.Muttnick (talk) 01:30, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
For reference, you can contact Mace's office here. --PerpetuityGrat (talk) 04:56, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
